Job Summary:
Sempurna Farms Sdn. Bhd. is a Malaysian urban vertical farming company established to promote sustainable farming practices and provide pesticide-free produce that tastes just like it should.
We are seeking a motivated, hands-on and detail-oriented Farm Operations Executive to support the day-to-day operations of our controlled-environment agriculture (“CEA”) farm in Bangsar Utama, Kuala Lumpur.
The role will involve supporting crop production planning, germination, transplanting, plant growth monitoring, nutrient preparation, harvesting, packing, delivery coordination, hygiene control, inventory tracking, and general farm operations.
This role is suitable for fresh graduates or candidates with up to two (2) years of experience in modern agriculture, urban farming, horticulture, plant science, agrotechnology or sustainable farming, with a strong interest in food security. Prior experience in CEA, vertical farming, greenhouse operations, hydroponics, nursery operations or other controlled crop production environments will be highly advantageous. However, fresh graduates with the right attitude, willingness to learn and interest in hands-on farm operations are encouraged to apply, as training and guidance will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in day-to-day CEA / vertical farm operations, including germination, transplanting, growing, harvesting, packing and cleaning
Plan crop production and sowing schedules based on customer demand and harvest cycles
Prepare seeds, growing media, trays, nutrients and other materials required for crop production
Monitor plant growth, crop health, moisture levels, temperature, humidity, lighting, airflow and other farm conditions
Preparing and managing nutrient solutions according to crop requirements and established SOPs
Carry out daily checks for signs of pests, disease, contamination, nutrient imbalance or abnormal plant growth
Ensure farm areas, equipment, tools, trays and growing modules are kept clean, organised and in accordance with hygiene requirements
Harvesting, weighing, sorting, packaging, labelling and storage of produce
Support traceability and record-keeping for sowing, germination, transplanting, harvest, packing, delivery and crop performance
Coordinating weekly orders, delivery preparation and handover of produce to customers or delivery personnel
Maintain inventory records for seeds, nutrients, packaging materials, cleaning materials, spare parts and other farm consumables
Perform basic maintenance checks for farm equipment, lighting, irrigation systems, pumps, RO water supply, sensors and related systems
Follow established SOPs for food safety, hygiene, crop handling, equipment cleaning and farm operations
Highlight crop issues, equipment faults, shortage of materials, contamination risks, delays or operational concerns to management
Prepare simple farm reports, crop records, harvest summaries, inventory updates and operational trackers
Support farm visits, customer visits, product sampling, pop-ups, marketing activities and other farm-related events when required
Work closely with the founders, technology partner, suppliers and customers to ensure consistent production and quality
Perform any other farm operations or administrative tasks as required
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Agrotechnology, Crop Science, Agronomy, Plant Science, Plant Biotechnology, or a related field
Fresh graduates are welcome to apply, and training and guidance will be provided
Candidates with up to two (2) years of experience in CEA, vertical farming, greenhouse operations, hydroponics, nursery operations or other controlled crop production environments will have an added advantage
Strong interest in sustainable farming, urban farming, food security, plant production and modern agricultural technology
Basic understanding of plant growth, crop cycles, nutrients, pest and disease prevention, hygiene and post-harvest handling will be beneficial
Willing to perform hands-on farm work, including sowing, cleaning, harvesting, packing and routine operational checks
Detail-oriented, disciplined and able to follow SOPs consistently
Good organisational, communication and follow-up skills
Comfortable working in a controlled-environment farm and maintaining strict hygiene standards
Able to work independently while coordinating with a small team
Proactive, responsible, willing to learn and open to feedback
Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Google Sheets or similar tools
Willing to work on-site at the farm in Bangsar Utama, Kuala Lumpur
Willing to support occasional deliveries, farm visits, customer activities, pop-ups or weekend requirements when needed
