We are looking for an Associate Accountant to join our ANZ Shared Services Finance team on a 6-month maternity cover contract based in Kuala Lumpur.
In this role, you will support day-to-day finance operations across accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking transactions, intercompany payments, reconciliations, and financial reporting. You will play an important role in ensuring accurate and timely invoice processing, strong internal controls, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- As Associate Accountant, you will be responsible for:
- Managing invoice processing accurately, on time, and in line with company policies and accounting standards.
- Reviewing invoices for proper documentation, approval, and adherence to Delegation of Authority requirements.
- Performing invoice coding, vendor statement reconciliations, and follow-up on aged items through to resolution.
- Processing ad hoc payments, including foreign currency payments and intercompany loans, as instructed by management.
- Performing bank sweeps and managing transactions across multiple bank accounts, including AUD, USD, and foreign currency accounts.
- Allocating banking and general ledger entries for payroll, taxes, superannuation, and other bank-related transactions.
- Reviewing and clearing bank accounts and clearing accounts, including completion of bank reconciliations.
- Issuing AR invoices to intercompany, managing corporate allocations, and maintaining accurate AR records.
- Reporting intercompany loan recharges and ad hoc intercompany transactions to relevant business units.
- Supporting financial reporting activities and maintaining robust internal controls for banking, payment, and reconciliation processes.
- Assisting with internal and external audit queries, including preparation of supporting documentation.
- Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and service levels to the business.
- Providing ad hoc support to the finance team as required.
What We’re Looking For
- The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree, Postgraduate Diploma, Professional Degree, or equivalent qualification in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.
- Around 2 to 3 years of relevant finance or accounting experience.
- Experience in audit, a regional office, or a Shared Services Centre environment would be an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of numerical accuracy.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities, work within deadlines, and perform well under time constraints.
- A self-motivated, independent working style with the ability to operate with minimal supervision.
- A resilient, collaborative, and solutions-focused mindset.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Highly Preferred
- Experience with QAD, SAP, Epicor, or other major ERP systems.
- Experience working in a matrix organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
