Job Description

Responsibilities

Own the architecture. Then go build it.
VEEP is a Singapore vehicle-leasing and mobility group building the VEEP Orchestration Layer — a provider-agnostic platform that routes payments across providers, automates receivables and payables, and reconciles everything into one ledger.
You would be engineer #1. You own the architecture and you build it — hands-on, not management. Your first mission: take payment links and the gateway live.

What you will ship first (90 days)
  • Solution architecture for the orchestration layer —signed off before build.
  • Provider-agnostic connector framework and a unifiedpayment API.
  • Airwallex integration live: hosted payment links andcard collections.
  • PayNow collections (QR / bank rail).
  • Reconciliation core: invoice link paid auto-reconciled into our finance modules.
Responsibilities
  • Design and build the connector framework so any new provider is added without changing the core.
  • Build and operate the unified payment API (collections, payouts, links, refunds) with idempotency and failover.
  • Own webhook / event ingestion and normalisation across providers.
  • Build the multi-rail reconciliation engine and normalised ledger.
  • Secure credential handling, audit trails, and sensible observability.
  • Set the engineering bar; mentor engineer; work directly with our finance team (FM, AR, AP, CS users).
You will thrive here if you have
  • 5+ years backend engineering, strong in TypeScript / Node.js or an equivalentmodern stack.
  • Shippeda production payment-gateway / PSP integration (e.g. Airwallex, Stripe, Adyen,Wise) — you have moved real money.
  • Ahead for event-driven / webhook systems; idempotency, and failure modes, plus strong API design.
  • Worked with reconciliation, ledgers, or double-entry accounting.
  • The confidence to own architecture decisions solo and defend them simply.

Bonus points to have
  • Cloudflare Workers / serverless platforms.
  • The Singapore payments landscape: PayNow, FAST, virtual accounts.
  • Xero or accounting-platform APIs.
  • Early-stage/ founding-engineer experience.
