JobPurpose

The Business Development Director is responsible for drivingrevenue growth and operational alignment across Nanyang Carpentry'scross-border footprint. This role has dual accountability: (1) growing andmanaging the Singapore local sales pipeline, and (2) overseeing productionoutput, capacity, and delivery performance of the Malaysia and China factoryteams. The successful candidate acts as the bridge between sales demand inSingapore and production capability overseas, ensuring orders are won, costed,and delivered on time and to quality standard.

KeyResponsibilities

Business Development & Sales (Singapore)

• Own theSingapore sales target — direct homeowner sales, Interior Designer (ID) firmpartnerships, and B2B renovation contracts.

• Lead,coach, and set KPIs for the local sales team; review pipeline, conversionrates, and quotation turnaround time.

• Developand maintain relationships with key ID firms and repeat commercial clients tosecure recurring order volume.

• Identifynew business channels (e.g. property developers, facilities management firms,franchise/retail fit-out) and lead pursuit of new accounts.

• Negotiatepricing, contract terms, and project timelines with clients in line withfactory capacity and margin targets.

Production Oversight (Malaysia & China)

• Overseeday-to-day performance of the Malaysia and China production teams, includingoutput volume, quality control, and on-time delivery rates.

• Act as theprimary link between Singapore sales commitments and overseas productioncapacity — ensuring order intake does not outpace factory throughput.

• Reviewproduction schedules, material/inventory planning, and shipping/logisticstimelines with factory managers.

• Travelregularly to Malaysia and China factories to audit quality, resolveescalations, and drive process improvement.

• Monitorproduction cost, wastage, and labour efficiency; report variances andcorrective actions to the Managing Director.

Cross-Functional & Reporting

• Consolidatesales forecasts and production capacity data into a single rolling plan; flagmismatches early.

• Preparemonthly business development and production performance reports for theManaging Director.

• Work withsite/installation teams in Singapore to ensure factory output aligns withon-site installation schedules.

• Support inresolving major client escalations, rectification cases, and disputes involvingproduction defects.

Requirements

• Diploma/Degreein Business, Interior Design, Engineering, or related field.

• Minimum 8years' experience in business development or sales leadership, with at least 3years overseeing manufacturing/production operations.

• Priorexperience in renovation, carpentry, furniture manufacturing, or interiorfit-out industries strongly preferred.

• Proventrack record managing cross-border teams (Malaysia and/or China factoryoperations) is essential.

• Strongcommercial acumen — comfortable owning a sales P&L and negotiating withclients directly.

• Willingand able to travel frequently to Malaysia and China (average 1–2 trips permonth).

• Fluent inEnglish; working proficiency in Mandarin and/or Bahasa Malaysia stronglypreferred, given factory teams.

• Strongstakeholder management skills — able to align sales, production, andinstallation teams operating in different countries.

KeyPerformance Indicators (KPIs)

• Singaporesales revenue vs. target (monthly/quarterly).

• Salespipeline conversion rate and quotation-to-close turnaround time.

• Malaysia/Chinaproduction on-time delivery rate.

• Productiondefect/rectification rate.

• Grossmargin per project (sales price vs. production + logistics cost).

• Clientretention rate, especially among ID firm partners.
