This individual will provide technical expertise and leadership to ensure a safe and healthy work environment, maintain rigorous compliance with all regulatory requirements, and drive a proactive, zero-incident culture. The role requires deep technical knowledge of the unique chemical, physical, and environmental risks inherent in semiconductor manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities Qualifications

  • Strategic Leadership & Management:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive, site-wide EHS strategy that aligns with corporate objectives and industry best practices (e.g., SEMI standards).
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the EHS team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Establish and track key EHS performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement; prepare and present regular performance reports to senior management.
  • Manage the EHS budget, including forecasting needs for programs, training, and capital projects.
  • Serve as a key member of the site leadership team, providing expert counsel on all EHS matters.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Systems:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA, and state/local authorities, managing all inspections, permits, and official correspondence.
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations, proactively tracking changes and implementing necessary program updates.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the site's EHS management systems, ensuring conformance with ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) standards.
  • Lead the internal EHS audit program and manage the corrective and preventive action (CAPA) process to ensure timely resolution of findings.
  • Health & Safety Programs:
  • Oversee the site's comprehensive chemical management program, including SDS management, chemical risk assessments, storage protocols, and employee training for hazardous materials, with a focus on toxic and pyrophoric gases.
  • Direct the industrial hygiene program, including air monitoring, noise surveys, ergonomic assessments, and chemical exposure monitoring to protect employee health.
  • Lead and review risk assessments (JHA/JSA) for all processes, particularly for high-risk activities within the fab, sub-fab, and utility areas.
  • Lead all significant incident investigations, ensuring thorough root cause analysis is performed and effective corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
  • Manage and enhance critical safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, Electrical Safety, Machine Guarding, and Fall Protection.
  • Environmental Programs & Sustainability:
  • Manage all aspects of the site's environmental programs, including hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, air emissions, and industrial wastewater treatment.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing the site's environmental footprint, including projects focused on waste reduction, water conservation, and energy efficiency.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of all waste streams in accordance with RCRA and other applicable regulations.
  • Emergency Preparedness & Response:
  • Develop, coordinate, and lead the site's Emergency Response Team (ERT), ensuring the team is properly trained, equipped, and prepared for various emergency scenarios.
  • Maintain and regularly test the site's emergency preparedness and business continuity plans.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive EHS experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Direct experience in the semiconductor, electronics, or chemical manufacturing industry is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA).
  • Proven experience implementing and managing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified management systems.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organization.
