Job Description

Responsibilities

Position Summary

This position is responsible for handling all Freight Forwarding and Trade Compliance inquiries presented to GXO and ensuring seamless international transportation for our customers. Also to oversee the transportation end to end process focused on transactional and process improvement tasks.


Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage International Freight Forwarding companies & Customs Brokers for our customers.
  • Responsible for the coordination of all necessary & required documentation for the movement of shipments to and from customers.
  • Ensure prompt and effective customs entry of international cargo, accountable for the logistics measures
  • Knowledge of Global customs regulations, requirements
  • Work effectively with all departments’ internal and external utilizing project management communication techniques.
  • Handle any other ad-hoc customer solutions projects
  • Recognize discrepancies and resolution tactics utilizing RCCA parameters
  • Resolves problems and make decisions regarding quality in assigned department
  • Ensure Global trade compliance regulations being adhered to
  • Knowledge of Dangerous Goods as dictated by IATA & IMDG
  • Ability to effectively communicate with global partners & service providers
  • Direct & indirect communications with all levels (including senior management) of the customer


Compliance

  • Oversee the process review of shipments, to ensure compliance requirements, documentation and any additional requirements as specified by country customs and brokers.
  • Resolve shipments with complex customs issues
  • Liaise with customer logistics, brokers and carriers to ensure shipments are processed to all customs requirements according to the shipping guide
  • Liaise with brokers and customs to resolve custom related exceptions, acquire the required documentation and signatures to release these from customs hold
  • Identify updates and gaps in the customer/GXO international shipping guides to ensure all exports and imports flow successfully through customs.
  • Review complex Bill of Materials (BOM's) for export into emerging market countries and recommend streamlined submission through export process
  • Ensure GXO is in alignment and compliance to corporate processes
  • Carry out emerging markets research to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to ensure the correct process and guidelines are documented for successful importation.
  • Carry out loss analysis and recommend improvements to customs related exceptions to ensure compliance related exceptions are minimized.
  • Identify and implement projects and processes to improve compliance processes with brokers, clients and across the GXO network


Project Management / Coordination

  • Operations specific projects, improvement and maintenance across the network
  • Lean deployment activities - Champion Kaizen activities throughout the global team organization.
  • Improve Effectiveness of systems and processes across the global network with a focus on intracompany processes and standardization across the network
  • Specific Logistics end to end project coordination ensuring all logistics movements are completed to plan to achieve a specific outcome
  • Work with clients to identify and drive business opportunities and growth through continuous assessment of client needs and solution development.
  • Coordinate value-add logistics projects for the client focusing on: Goal development, Critical path development, project reports, communications and identifying improvement opportunities
  • Value added projects / Drive Continuous Improvement across the network utilizing Kaizen techniques including process re-engineering, waste identification, and improving client satisfaction


Qualifications Summary:

Experience:

  • This position requires at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong International Compliance Experience Required
  • Strong knowledge of Freight Forwarding and Customs Broker required


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Logistics or Trade Compliance.

  • Must thrive in fast paced dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to make decisions
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and keep calm in a busy work environment.
  • Solid written and verbal skills are essential as well as good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret and analyze domestic and international shipping documents, contracts, and procedures in a timely manner.
