Responsibilities

Mechanical Technical Program Manager – Data Centres

Singapore – on site at a live data centre

SGD 9,350–11,500 per month

Mechanical design, construction, commissioning and handover — this role owns the full technical lifecycle. We are looking for a senior mechanical engineer, commissioning leader or technical programme manager who can challenge designs, coordinate vendors and drive complex mechanical systems through installation, testing and final acceptance.

About the role

You will lead and coordinate the delivery of mechanical engineering systems across a major APAC data-centre programme.

This is not a pure design-management or PMO role. You will operate across design assurance, construction, mechanical completion, QA/QC, commissioning, defects and handover, working closely with engineering teams, contractors, OEMs and specialist vendors.

Candidates do not need to have spent their entire career in data centres. Strong backgrounds in oil & gas, LNG, power, refineries, offshore, heavy industrial or other mission-critical environments are highly relevant where you have managed complex mechanical systems through commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical system development from design review through construction, commissioning and final handover.
  • Develop and standardise mechanical engineering packages, specifications and technical requirements.
  • Review designs, drawings, specifications and vendor submissions before procurement and construction.
  • Coordinate internal engineering teams, EPC contractors, consultants, OEMs and specialist vendors.
  • Provide technical input on large mechanical plant, cooling systems and associated controls.
  • Lead QA/QC reviews, installation assurance and mechanical completion activities.
  • Participate in and witness commissioning, functional testing and performance verification.
  • Manage technical issues, defects, punch lists and mitigation actions through to closure.
  • Review as-built drawings, commissioning records and final handover documentation.
  • Recommend improvements covering technology, performance, cost, resilience and programme.
  • Produce progress updates and lead technical meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical engineering, construction or commissioning experience within data centres, oil & gas, LNG, power, refineries, mission-critical facilities or similarly complex infrastructure.
  • Experience taking complex mechanical systems through design review, construction, mechanical completion, commissioning and final handover.
  • Broad knowledge of mechanical plant and building services, ideally including cooling, chilled water, HVAC, pumps, air handling or heat-rejection systems.
  • Proven experience managing EPC contractors, consultants, OEMs or specialist equipment vendors.
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC, installation assurance, commissioning and defect close-out.
  • Able to challenge technical designs and drive issues to resolution.
  • Able to work on site at a data centre in Singapore.

Desirable background

  • Hyperscale or colocation data-centre experience.
  • Large cooling-plant or chilled-water commissioning experience.
  • BMS or controls integration exposure.
  • Mechanical completion and commissioning planning.
  • Experience with brownfield, live-plant or mission-critical operational environments.
  • Regional or multi-site APAC programme experience.

Best-Fit Candidates / Useful Matching Context

Potential titles include Mechanical Technical Programme Manager, Commissioning Manager, Mechanical Commissioning Manager, MEP Commissioning Manager, Commissioning Lead, Mechanical Engineering Manager, Mechanical Project Manager, Mechanical Completion Lead, Construction & Commissioning Lead and Data Centre Mechanical Lead.

Relevant candidates may come from hyperscale data centres, colocation, oil & gas, LNG, refineries, power generation, offshore engineering, EPC contractors, MEP consultancies or other complex mission-critical infrastructure.

The strongest profiles will combine mechanical technical credibility with vendor management, site delivery, mechanical completion, commissioning, defect close-out and handover.
