Responsibilities

Smartlink Engineering Sdn Bhd is a Malaysian contract manufacturer specializing in semiconductor and high-technology industries. With manufacturing facilities in Shah Alam and Penang, we provide integrated manufacturing solutions to support customers’ engineering, production, and project requirements.

Our core capabilities include cable harness assembly, control box and panel assembly, electrical and mechanical module assembly, system integration, and customized engineering solutions.

As part of our continued business expansion, we are looking for a Supply Chain Executive / Senior Executive to join our growing team and play an important role in strengthening our procurement and supply chain operations.

Current Location: Bayan Lepas, Penang
Upcoming Location: Batu Kawan, Penang
Relocation: The company is expected to relocate to Batu Kawan by the end of 2026.

Job Summary :

The Supply Chain Executive / Senior Executive will be responsible for managing and coordinating key supply chain activities, including procurement, supplier management, material planning, delivery monitoring, inventory control, and cost management.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Manage end-to-end purchasing activities, including supplier sourcing, quotation evaluation, purchase order issuance, and supplier follow-up.
  • Identify, source, and develop potential suppliers to support current and future business requirements.
  • Evaluate supplier quotations and negotiate pricing, lead time, payment terms, and other commercial conditions.
  • Monitor supplier performance based on Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD).
  • Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and resolve supply-related issues promptly.
  • Support supplier evaluation, qualification, development, and continuous improvement activities.

2. Material Planning & Supply Chain Coordination

  • Review material requirements and ensure timely procurement to support production and project schedules.
  • Monitor purchase orders, supplier delivery status, and material availability.
  • Follow up and expedite critical materials to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate closely with Production, Engineering, Project, and other relevant departments on material requirements and priorities.
  • Identify potential supply risks and implement appropriate actions to minimize production disruption.

3. Inventory & Cost Management

  • Monitor inventory levels and support appropriate stock management to minimize excess, shortage, and obsolete materials.
  • Work with internal teams to improve inventory accuracy and material utilization.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities through supplier negotiation, alternative sourcing, value analysis, and process improvement.
  • Support purchasing and supply chain cost-saving initiatives.

4. Documentation & ERP / System Management

  • Ensure purchasing documentation, supplier records, and procurement transactions are properly maintained.
  • Monitor and update purchase order status, delivery schedules, and supplier information in the ERP/MRP system.
  • Prepare purchasing and supply chain reports, including purchasing status, supplier performance, delivery performance, and material availability.

5. Continuous Improvement & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Support initiatives to improve supply chain efficiency, procurement processes, and overall operational effectiveness.
  • Participate in new project / new product introduction (NPI) activities by supporting sourcing and material readiness.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, Project, Finance, and other departments to resolve supply chain issues.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by Management from time to time.

Requirements & Qualifications :

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 - 5 years of relevant experience in supply chain, procurement, purchasing, or a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in semiconductor, precision engineering, automation, contract manufacturing, or high-technology industries will be an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, material planning, inventory control, and purchasing practices.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Good communication and coordination skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems will be an advantage.
  • Able to work independently while also functioning effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional manufacturing environment.

Preferred Skills & Experience :

Candidates with experience in the following areas will have an added advantage:

  • Supplier management for mechanical parts, machining components, fabricated parts, electrical components, cable harnesses, and other manufacturing components.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering drawings.
  • Experience in sourcing and purchasing components based on engineering specifications.
  • Experience in cost negotiation, supplier development, and alternative sourcing.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight project and production deadlines.
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and commitment to achieving supply chain targets.
