Job Summary:

We are looking for a QA Engineer to support and strengthen our quality assurance and quality control activities in a sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing environment.

The role will be responsible for in-process and final quality control, quality documentation, non-conformance investigation, customer quality support, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate should be hands-on, detail-oriented, able to understand engineering drawings and manufacturing processes, and comfortable working closely with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and customers to resolve quality issues.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Control & Inspection

Establish and maintain in-process and final inspection criteria based on customer requirements, engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.

Ensure products comply with customer drawings, specifications, tolerances, and quality requirements.

Perform and/or support inspection using measuring instruments such as vernier caliper, micrometer, height gauge, gauges, and other inspection equipment.

Review inspection results and identify potential quality issues before shipment.

Ensure proper control and traceability of inspection and measuring equipment, including calibration status.

Support quality requirements related to sheet metal fabrication, welding, machining, and surface finishing.

2. Quality Documentation & Reporting

Prepare and maintain inspection reports, quality records, NCRs, customer quality reports, and other relevant documentation.

Ensure quality records are properly maintained for traceability and audit purposes.

Maintain and improve quality documentation, inspection checklists, SOPs, and work instructions.

Assist in preparing quality performance reports, including defect, rejection, rework, and customer complaint trends.

3. Non-Conformance & Corrective Action

Establish appropriate acceptance criteria and inspection/sampling requirements based on customer and internal requirements.

Investigate internal and customer-related non-conformances and assist in identifying root causes.

Apply basic quality tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, Pareto Analysis, and other 7 QC tools.

Coordinate and follow up on containment, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA/RCCA).

Verify the effectiveness of corrective actions and monitor recurrence of quality issues.

Support the implementation of FMEA, Control Plans, and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) where applicable.

4. Customer & Supplier Quality Support

Handle and coordinate customer complaints, quality feedback, and non-conformance issues.

Prepare and coordinate customer responses, including root cause analysis and corrective action reports.

Communicate with customers on quality-related matters when required.

Monitor and follow up on supplier quality issues, incoming material non-conformances, and supplier corrective actions.

Work closely with Purchasing and relevant departments to prevent recurring supplier-related quality issues.

5. Process & Continuous Improvement

Work closely with Production, Engineering, and other departments to identify and eliminate sources of defects.

Develop and improve inspection methods, checklists, SOPs, and quality control processes to ensure consistency.

Monitor quality performance and identify opportunities to reduce defects, rejection, rework, and customer complaints.

Support continuous improvement activities and promote a quality-first mindset throughout the production process.

Assist in implementing preventive controls to reduce recurring quality issues.

6. Audit & Quality System

Support the implementation and maintenance of the company's Quality Management System (QMS).

Assist with internal and external audits and ensure required quality records are properly maintained.

Support compliance with ISO 9001 and applicable customer and industry requirements.

Ensure quality procedures and work instructions are followed within the relevant departments.

Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, or related field.

1–3 years of experience in manufacturing, quality control, sheet metal fabrication, welding, or related industries.

Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and welding symbols.

Familiar with measuring instruments such as vernier caliper, micrometer, height gauge, and basic inspection gauges.

Basic knowledge of 7 QC Tools, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, Pareto Analysis, NCR, and corrective action processes.

Basic understanding of welding standards, welding symbols, and fabrication quality requirements.

Good communication, analytical, problem-solving, and coordination skills.

Able to work independently as well as coordinate effectively with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and other departments.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other quality documentation/reporting tools.

Preferred / Added Advantage:

Experience in sheet metal fabrication, welding, laser cutting, bending, machining, or surface finishing.

Experience handling customer complaints, NCR, RCCA/8D, or corrective action reports.

Exposure to ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.

Knowledge of AWS/ASME welding standards.

Exposure to FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC, or other quality engineering tools.

Experience with supplier quality or incoming material inspection.

Experience using MES, ERP, or digital quality management systems is an added advantage.

Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM4,500.00 per month
