1. Job Purpose
The IoT Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting Internet of Things (IoT) systems and connected devices across the Company's operations.
The role involves integrating IoT devices, sensors, networks, software platforms, and data systems to improve operational efficiency, automation, monitoring, security, and overall business performance.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. IoT System Implementation & Management
- Design, install, configure, and maintain IoT devices, sensors, gateways, and related systems.
- Support the implementation of IoT solutions across the Company's properties and business operations.
- Monitor the performance and connectivity of IoT devices and systems.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, and communication issues.
- Ensure IoT devices and systems are properly configured, maintained, and documented.
- Conduct testing and commissioning of new IoT installations.
B. Network & Connectivity
- Work closely with the IT team to ensure reliable connectivity between IoT devices, networks, gateways, and cloud platforms.
- Assist in configuring Wi-Fi, LAN, WAN, Ethernet, and other network connectivity required for IoT systems.
- Monitor network performance and identify connectivity issues affecting IoT devices.
- Coordinate with Internet Service Providers, vendors, and contractors when required.
C. System Integration
- Integrate IoT devices and platforms with existing IT systems, applications, and business management systems.
- Support API, MQTT, HTTP/HTTPS, or other communication protocols where applicable.
- Ensure data collected from IoT devices is properly transmitted, stored, and accessible to authorized users.
- Assist in developing dashboards and monitoring platforms for operational use.
D. Data Monitoring & Analysis
- Monitor data generated from connected devices and identify abnormalities or system issues.
- Assist departments in using IoT data to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.
- Prepare technical reports relating to IoT system performance, incidents, and maintenance.
- Identify opportunities where IoT technology can reduce costs, improve productivity, or automate processes.
E. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for IoT devices and systems.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and connectivity problems.
- Maintain an updated inventory and record of IoT devices, sensors, gateways, and related equipment.
- Coordinate with external vendors for warranty, repairs, replacement, and technical support.
F. Security & Compliance
- Ensure IoT devices are securely configured and maintained.
- Implement appropriate access controls, authentication, passwords, and security measures.
- Monitor IoT systems for potential security vulnerabilities or unauthorized access.
- Follow the Company's IT security policies and procedures.
G. Project & Vendor Management
- Participate in IoT-related projects from planning and testing through to implementation.
- Evaluate IoT hardware, software, platforms, and technology solutions.
- Liaise with vendors, contractors, and service providers on technical matters.
- Review technical specifications, quotations, and proposals where required.
- Provide technical recommendations to management for IoT-related investments.
H. Documentation & Support
- Maintain proper documentation for IoT architecture, network topology, device configurations, system connections, and maintenance records.
- Prepare user guides and basic operating procedures where required.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal users.
- Provide training to relevant employees on the proper use of IoT systems.
3. RequirementsEducation
- Bachelor's Degree in Internet of Things (IoT), Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Candidates with relevant Diploma qualifications and strong practical experience may also be considered.
Experience
- Minimum 1–3 years of relevant experience in IoT, networking, system integration, automation, or a related technical field.
- Fresh graduates with strong technical knowledge and relevant internship/project experience may also be considered.
Technical Skills
Candidates should have knowledge or experience in:
- IoT devices, sensors, gateways, and controllers
- Computer networking and connectivity
- LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi technologies
- TCP/IP networking
- MQTT, HTTP/HTTPS, or similar communication protocols
- Cloud-based IoT platforms
- API and system integration
- Basic database and data management
- Network topology and documentation
- Hardware and software troubleshooting
- Cybersecurity fundamentals
Knowledge of Python, JavaScript, SQL, Node-RED, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, or similar IoT development platforms will be an added advantage.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM5,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
