Job Description

Responsibilities

We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical and automated control systems across our production and facility operations. The role combines electrical engineering fundamentals with automation technology (PLC, SCADA, and mechatronic systems) to improve equipment reliability, safety, and production efficiency.

The successful candidate will work closely with production, maintenance, and project teams to keep systems running and to drive continuous improvement, while providing technical leadership and direction to the engineering and maintenance team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and oversee the design, development, and modification of electrical and automation systems for machinery, production lines, and facility equipment.

Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, VFDs, and sensors/actuators to meet operational requirements.

Install, test, and commission new equipment and control panels; support upgrades and retrofits of existing systems.

Plan and manage preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, control, and mechatronic systems to minimise downtime.

Diagnose electrical faults and automation malfunctions, and implement effective root-cause solutions.

Prepare and maintain technical documentation — electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control logic, and equipment manuals.

Drive automation and process-improvement projects to raise productivity, quality, and energy efficiency.

Liaise with vendors, contractors, and equipment suppliers on procurement, servicing, and technical support.

Provide technical guidance, supervision, and training to technicians and operators as required.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Automation, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.

Experience

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, industrial automation, or maintenance within a manufacturing, facilities, or industrial environment, including some supervisory or project leadership exposure.

Technical Skills

Solid grounding in electrical systems, motor controls, and power distribution.

Hands-on experience with PLC programming (e.g. Siemens, Mitsubishi, Allen-Bradley / Rockwell, or Omron).

Familiarity with SCADA/HMI systems, VFDs, industrial networks, and sensor/instrumentation setup.

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings.

Working knowledge of automation and mechatronic system integration.

Personal Attributes

Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with a methodical, safety-first approach.

Able to work independently, lead a team, and collaborate across cross-functional groups.

Good communication skills; willing to support shift or on-call coverage where operationally required.

PREFERRED / ADVANTAGEOUS

Experience with robotics, IIoT, or Industry 4.0 initiatives.

Knowledge of energy management and equipment reliability practices.

Bilingual ability (English and Mandarin) to support communication with regional vendors or teams, where relevant.
