Job Description

Responsibilities

Safe Place at Lakeside Family Services (LFS) is a social service programme committed to supporting women and families facing unsupported pregnancies. We are looking for a dedicated Social Worker to join our team and provide professional support to clients through casework, counselling, group work and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Casework and Counselling

  • Develop, implement and follow up on case plans and interventions based on clients’ needs.
  • Engage clients and their significant others in a therapeutic and supportive manner to understand their needs, strengths and circumstances.
  • Conduct risk and needs assessments to inform intervention planning.
  • Provide crisis intervention and emotional support where required.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive case documentation in accordance with organisational standards.
  • Make appropriate referrals to internal and external resources and services.

2. Group Work and Workshops

  • Plan, facilitate and evaluate psycho-educational and support groups for clients.
  • Design workshop content and materials that are aligned with client needs and organisational goals.
  • Monitor group dynamics and adapt facilitation approaches to support effective engagement and participation.

3. Community Networking and Outreach

  • Network and collaborate with stakeholders to assess community needs and develop and implement relevant programmes and services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, referral sources and government agencies.
  • Represent LFS and Safe Place at community events, forums and relevant platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen community partnerships and improve support for women and families.

4. Programme Development and Research

  • Identify service gaps based on client needs and make recommendations to enhance existing programmes and services.
  • Participate in and support relevant research initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of programme frameworks, tools and resources.
  • Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of programme outcomes and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in social work or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with sensitivity and empathy when working with clients experiencing unsupported or crisis pregnancies.
  • Sound understanding of casework methodology, crisis intervention and trauma-informed care.
  • Strong assessment, case management and intervention skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Good written and documentation skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience in group facilitation, community outreach or programme development would be an advantage.
