Responsibilities
Role of Senior Cost Accountant
We’re seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for Costs analysis, inventory control, and supporting business performance through accurate costing and insightful financial analysis. The role requires close collaboration with operations, warehouse and cross-functional teams to ensure inventory accuracy, cost efficiency, compliance with accounting standards and internal controls, as well as driving process improvements to enhance operation efficiency & cost effectiveness.
Job Description & Responsibilities
1. Setup systems and processes for the costing function, this includes the full range of Cost Accounting activities. (Develop financial system improvements, upgrades and controls).
2. Financial analysis including variance, work in progress, and factory expenditure.
3. Review & Analyse standard cost variances for material usage, labour variance, manufacturing overhead costs, production yields, inventory valuation, product costing and product pricing.
4. Coordinating and conducting the physical inventory count and periodic cycle counts, including reconciling differences and making financial & inventory adjustments.
5. To develop operations Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
6. Monitor factory’s operation & overhead expenses against budget and justification.
7. Update and maintain standard costing, bills of materials (BOMs), overhead absorption rates & etc.
8. Evaluate process deficiencies, formulate corrective action plans and develop process improvements and procedure controls.
9. Month-end closing activities in conjunction with the corporate deadline. Prepare month-end closing with COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) schedules, and financial reports align with margin fluctuations.
10. Assisting in preparation of monthly financial statement, income statement, balance sheet, cash flows statements.
11. Record & complete General ledger month-end closing activities. (Maintain accounting journals, reviewing and posting journal entries, account reconciliation, and fixed assets schedule).
Qualification requirements:
1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting. Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, or CPA are highly preferred.
2. Typically requires a minimum of 2-5 years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing or industrial operation.
3. Experience with advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, working knowledge of ERP platforms, strong analytical capabilities and cost accounting principles & practices.
4. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and work under pressure.
5. Attention to detail, problem-solving skills and communication skills.
6. Demonstrate traits of teamwork, integrity and accountability.
7. Seeking candidate who proficient in Mandarin to effectively communicate with Holding company.
