About This Position

The National Institutes of Biotechnology Malaysia (NIBM) is seeking a motivated, dedicated, and experienced Scientist (Immunologist) to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

1.      Design and conduct research in vaccine immunology and vaccine development;

2.      Evaluate vaccine-induced immune responses using cellular and humoral immunological assays;

3.      Develop and optimise immunological methods for preclinical vaccine evaluation;

4.      Analyse research data and prepare scientific reports, publications and grant proposals;

5.      Establish and maintain research collaborations with academic, industry and government partners;

6.      Supervise research personnel and postgraduate students, where appropriate;

7.      Ensure compliance with biosafety, biosecurity, ethical and quality standards; and

8.      Present research findings at scientific meetings and contribute to MGVI's strategic vaccine research programmes.

Qualifications and Experience:

1.      Malaysian citizens;

2.      Minimum Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Immunology related to vaccine research, or Microbiology/Virology with demonstrated expertise in immunology and vaccine research or any related field and recognized by the Malaysian government from a local or foreign higher education institution or a qualification recognized as equivalent;

3.      Strong background in immune mechanisms related to vaccine research (e.g., innate/adaptive immunity, autoimmunity, cancer immunology) is a must;

4.      Candidates should have research experience in vaccine development or immunology;

5.      Hands-on experience with immunological assays (e.g. flow cytometry, ELISA, cell culture, protein analysis, neutralization assays) and animal studies;

6.      Experience in immunoinformatic immune repertoire analysis and vaccine platform development is an added advantage;

7.      Experience with mRNA, viral vector, recombinant protein, or egg-based vaccines;

8.      Experience in animal immunisation studies;

9.      Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills;

10.    Ability to work independently in a structured and regulated environment; and

11.    Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
