The Opportunity
We are seeking a visionary leader to establish and lead a global Digital Engineering & Computational Innovation organization that accelerates product development, strengthens technology differentiation, and enables data-driven decision making across R&D and engineering functions.
This role will define and execute the strategy for advanced modeling, simulation, digital twins, computational chemistry, and AI/ML-driven innovation. Working closely with R&D, engineering, operations, and digital technology leaders, you will build enterprise capabilities that improve innovation speed, product performance, manufacturing readiness, and customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the enterprise strategy, roadmap, and operating model for digital engineering and computational innovation.
- Build and scale high-performing global teams specializing in multiphysics simulation, computational modeling, AI/ML, computational chemistry, and digital science.
- Establish best practices, standards, and governance frameworks for modeling, simulation, validation, and digital workflows across the organization.
- Drive adoption of digital twins, virtual prototyping, and advanced analytics to support product development and technology innovation.
- Prioritize and manage a portfolio of digital and modeling initiatives based on business impact, technical risk, and strategic value.
- Partner with technology and digital organizations to ensure scalable, secure, and enterprise-ready computing infrastructure, platforms, and deployment frameworks.
- Influence investment decisions related to HPC, cloud computing, simulation technologies, AI platforms, and data ecosystems.
- Foster strategic collaborations with universities, research institutions, and industry partners to advance innovation capabilities.
- Champion a culture of scientific excellence, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- PhD preferred in Computational Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- 14+ years of experience in computational engineering, modeling and simulation, digital transformation, or advanced R&D environments.
- Proven success leading large multidisciplinary technical teams and scaling digital capabilities across complex global organizations.
- Deep expertise in at least two of the following areas:
- Multiphysics Simulation (CFD, FEM)
- Molecular or Atomistic Modeling
- Computational Chemistry
- Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
- Experience with industry-leading tools such as ANSYS, COMSOL, GeoDict, LAMMPS, and modern AI/ML platforms.
- Strong understanding of model validation, simulation data management, lifecycle governance, and knowledge management.
- Semiconductor, advanced materials, or other technology-intensive industry experience is highly preferred.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and executive communication skills with the ability to influence senior leadership and drive enterprise-wide transformation.
