China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited (“the Company” or “China State Hong Kong”) started its construction business in Hong Kong in 1979. The Company engages in building construction and civil engineering works. China State Hong Kong is among the largest construction contractors in Hong Kong, and is approved by the Works Bureau, to be on the List of Approved Contractors (Group C) for Public Works in the five major categories of building and civil engineering works, namely, “Buildings”, “Port Works”, “Roads and Drainage”, “Site Formation” and “Waterworks”.
Job Duties
- Lead overall structural cross-trade technical coordination with architectural, building services, geotechnical and MiC modular teams, resolve drawing clashes, construction sequence conflicts and structural joint details of MiC steel frames.
- Conduct monthly dedicated structural audit at off-site MiC factory; inspect MiC steel frame layout, reinforcement arrangement, welding workmanship, concrete casting and modular structural joints; witness factory tensile test, ultrasonic weld scan, concrete core test and follow up rectification of structural defects.
- Vet fully coordinated structural drawings, steel shop drawings, MiC split structural modules and temporary works drawings; track drawing submission, consultant comments and full revision logs.
- Establish approval workflow for structural steel, concrete, precast elements and MiC structural mock‑ups; supervise factory full-size mock‑up acceptance; mass MiC production shall not commence without approved mock‑up.
- Compile structural method statements, test plans and off-site factory structural supervision schedules; assist Resident Structural Engineer (RSE) to prepare monthly structural progress reports, geotechnical monitoring data, factory inspection logs and snag lists.
- Chair structural interface coordination meetings, MiC factory structural production technical meetings and sub‑contractor coordination meetings; track all action items until fully closed.
- Arrange inspection of concealed structural works on site and at factory; attend and witness all statutory structural tests for piling, steelwork and MiC modules, archive full set of test certificates.
- Handle structural design variations & temporary support revision proposals; update coordinated drawing packages, sub‑contractor construction guides and factory fabrication drawings accordingly.
- Oversee compilation of structural as‑built drawings, structural sections of O&M manuals and full set of MiC factory structural completion certificates for filing.
- Liaise with structural consultant, statutory authorities, steel and MiC sub‑contractors to resolve all structural technical queries on site and at off‑site fabrication plant.
Requirements
- Bachelor / Higher Diploma in Civil / Structural Engineering from IVE, HK Polytechnic or recognised tertiary institute.
- Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience in structural technical coordination on large‑scale Hong Kong public housing / government projects; experience in off‑site MiC factory structural audit & steel precast coordination is a strong advantage.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Hong Kong structural codes, BD PNAP APP‑158 supervision guidance and MiC factory structural QA requirements.
- Proficient in AutoCAD & Revit Structural, capable of Navisworks clash detection; able to draft bilingual structural technical reports and factory audit documents independently.
- Fluent Cantonese, competent professional written & spoken English for standalone technical coordination meetings with overseas MiC factory teams.
- Holder of Construction Green Safety Card; available for overtime, night structural tests and regular overseas MiC factory structural audit trips.
