Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor the Assistant Managers of Production, Engineering, and Quality.
- Set clear departmental objectives, targets, and performance expectations.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching, and staff development.
- Foster teamwork and effective collaboration across departments.
- Resolve cross-functional issues and escalate critical matters when necessary.
2. Production Management
- Ensure production plans are executed effectively to meet delivery schedules and customer requirements.
- Monitor productivity, capacity utilization, manpower, and labor efficiency.
- Drive improvements in production output while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Optimize manpower, machinery, and production resources.
- Supervise production personnel, including training and onboarding of new employees.
3. Engineering Management
- Guide the Engineering Assistant Manager in process improvements, tooling, and equipment optimization.
- Review and support New Product Introduction (NPI) and process changes.
- Ensure production processes are standardized, controlled, and properly documented.
- Support automation, productivity improvement, and cost reduction initiatives.
4. Quality Management
- Work closely with the Quality Assistant Manager to maintain product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Review quality performance, customer complaints, and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements and quality management systems.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives to reduce defects, scrap, and rework.
5. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Ensure effective communication and coordination among Production, Engineering, Quality, Planning, Maintenance, Procurement, and Warehouse teams.
- Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks through cross-functional collaboration.
- Drive timely resolution of production, quality, and operational issues.
6. Continuous Improvement
- Promote Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead projects to reduce waste, improve productivity, and reduce manufacturing costs.
- Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
7. KPI Management
Monitor and review departmental KPIs, including:
- Production output and schedule attainment
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Defect, scrap, and rework rates
- On-Time Delivery (OTD)
- Customer complaints
- Productivity and labor efficiency
- Cost reduction and continuous improvement results
8. Strategic Planning
- Develop annual operational plans and departmental budgets.
- Align departmental objectives with overall company goals.
- Identify operational risks and implement appropriate mitigation plans.
- Prepare management reports and present operational performance to senior management.
9. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of audit findings.
Qualifications & Competencies
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
- Master’s Degree in MBA or Engineering Management is an added advantage.
Experience
- 8–12 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably within the wire harness, automotive, electronics, or cable assembly industry.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a managerial or leadership role overseeing Production, Engineering, and/or Quality functions.
- Proven experience in managing cross-functional teams and achieving production targets.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of wire harness manufacturing processes, including:
- Wire cutting and stripping
- Crimping and terminal insertion
- Soldering and welding
- Cable assembly
- Continuity and electrical testing
- Final inspection and packaging
- Good knowledge of production planning, capacity planning, and inventory control.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, and root cause analysis tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, DMAIC, and FMEA.
- Good understanding of quality management systems and customer requirements.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Agile, or MES is an advantage.
Pay: RM8,000.00 - RM10,000.00 per month
