Job Description

Responsibilities

Job description

Working closely with the Director and supported by an Assistant Manager, this position plays a key role in shaping and delivering STPI's curatorial programme — aligned with contemporary discourse and rooted in the organisation's commitment to artists.

The role is also responsible for content development that extends the programme across multiple touchpoints and supports inter-departmental needs — maintaining well-researched copy across different channels, including STPI's print publications and its digital editorial platform, print_screen.

Overall Job Objectives:

Exhibitions Programming

  • Develops exhibition concepts in collaboration with the Director, artists and guest curators — from initial proposal through to realisation — covering curatorial rationale and intended outcomes for each project.
  • Acts as a key point of contact and liaison for visiting artists, managing itineraries, logistics, and on-site support during residencies and exhibition visits.
  • Manages artwork selection and maintains exhibition checklists, working with registrars to identify, secure, and confirm works.
  • Works with internal and external teams to oversee exhibition design, installation, and lighting, ensuring each exhibition meets agreed curatorial and presentation standards.
  • Researches and delivers curatorially-driven public programmes that extend exhibitions' reach and audience engagement.
  • Represents the programme where needed, leading tours and briefings for press, VIPs, and other stakeholders.

Content Development

  • Shapes and executes STPI's content strategy across all programmes and projects, ensuring consistency with STPI's objectives and long-term curatorial vision.
  • Oversees the writing, editing and production of written content, including the publications programme, exhibition brochures, wall panels and extended labels.
  • Oversees the publishing programme on print_screen, working with the external editorial lead and in-house team.
  • Works closely with the Marketing department, supplying accurate curatorial information and context that Marketing translates into audience-facing messaging and marketing materials.

Other Responsibilities

  • Plans and oversees secretariat duties for the bi-annual Content and Curatorial Committee, ensuring smooth coordination and documentation.
  • Supervises and mentors the Assistant Manager (Content Development), supporting their professional growth.
  • Undertakes ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Reporting Officer in service of the organisation's needs.

Job Specifications:

  • A degree in a relevant subject, preferably art history or a related field, supported by a sound knowledge of contemporary art
  • At least 5 years of relevant curatorial experience
  • Possess excellent research, writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Possess public speaking skills
  • Creative and innovative mindset
  • Proactive, team player
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
