Assistant Computer Officer
The School of Governance and Policy Science (SGPS) aspires to become an internationally respected innovator and educator in theory-informed and evidence-based public policy and government practices in local, national and global contexts. The appointee will be responsible for (a) managing the School’s network, IT infrastructure and system; (b) administering servers (including MS Windows, Linux, and VM), network equipment and firewall; (c) supporting website content management and social media publishing; (d) providing technical support to teaching and research staff; (e) providing research project data backup and security plan; and (f) performing other tasks as assigned.
Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology or related disciplines; (ii) the willingness to learn new technologies; (iii) solid experience in the management of networks, such as switch, VPN server and firewall; (iv) hands-on experience in setting up and maintaining Linux servers; (v) good knowledge of Windows and Mac systems; (vi) experience in publishing on websites and social media; and (vii) good analytical, problem-solving, organisational and communication skills. Having knowledge of using multimedia equipment and software will be an advantage.
Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
