We are seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Scientist to lead scientific research and drive technical excellence across our R&D initiatives. You will design and oversee research projects, provide technical expertise, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions, ensure scientific rigor, and support the successful delivery of research and business objectives.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead a research team to innovate and develop special concrete products and construction materials using the latest technologies
• Add to and improve our existing stable of concrete products and materials, with the future study of the products to balance performance and cost
• Design special concrete products based on the future needs of the built environment industry
• Develop and implement quality control protocols for production processes
• Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to identify new business opportunities and develop materials for new products
• Provide technical support to operational teams and customers on complex construction issues
• Attend industry conferences and events to stay up-to-date on the latest developments in concrete science and technology
• Identify and manage risk areas in product development, and develop and implement contingency plans as needed
• Manage and mentor junior scientists and engineers, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities as needed
• Research, publish and present technical papers
• Lead and present existing and future concrete products and technologies to customers and stakeholders

Job Requirements

• Ph.D. in Concrete Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
• At least 5 years’ experience in concrete science or materials science research and development
• Experience in civil engineering, construction technology, material science, concrete technology, and production
• Familiar with SSEN, ACI, ASTM, and BS/EN standards or specifications for Civil Engineering and concrete
• Well-versed in laboratory tests, relevant standards, and specifications
• Proven track record of developing and commercialising new concrete products
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team of scientists and engineers
• A team player who is equipped with good communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders
