About Us

DUN XIN operates a livehouse dedicated to bringing live music and performance culture to Singapore. From emerging local acts to touring artists, we host shows that bring the room to life — and lighting is a huge part of that energy. We're looking for a creative, technically skilled Lighting Designer to shape the visual experience of our shows.

About the Role

We are seeking a Lighting Designer to design, program, and operate lighting for live music performances at our venue. You'll work closely with bands, sound engineers, and the venue team to craft lighting that matches the energy and mood of each act — from intimate acoustic sets to high-energy full-band shows, night after night.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute lighting looks for live performances, tailored to each act's genre and vibe
  • Program and operate the lighting console during soundcheck and live shows
  • Set up, focus, and maintain lighting fixtures, rigs, and control systems before each event
  • Collaborate with visiting bands, tour managers, and sound engineers to accommodate their needs and any advance riders
  • Adjust lighting cues in real time during live sets, reacting to the flow of the performance
  • Maintain and troubleshoot lighting equipment (fixtures, dimmers, consoles, cabling, DMX/Art-Net systems)
  • Manage inventory and coordinate repairs or replacements of lighting gear
  • Ensure all rigging and electrical work meets safety and venue compliance standards
  • Work with the venue/technical team on show advancing and load-in/load-out schedules
  • Assist with lighting for special events, private hires, or livestreams as needed

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a lighting designer/operator for live music, concerts, or similar live events
  • Proficiency with lighting control software/consoles
  • Solid understanding of DMX/Art-Net protocols and moving light/LED fixture programming
  • Ability to read and respond to a live performance in real time
  • Comfortable working at heights and with rigging (safety training a plus)
  • Strong communication skills for working with touring artists and crews on tight turnarounds
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and flexible hours around the show schedule
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills

Preferred:

  • Experience touring or working with visiting/international acts
  • Familiarity with small-to-mid-size venue rig setups
  • Cross-skill in sound engineering or stage management a plus
