To support the overseas expansion of our computing center business, we are developing solar PV and energy storage projects in Malaysia, Thailand and other Southeast markets.
These projects will provide stable green power and help reduce electricity costs for overseas computing centers and other commercial customers. We are seeking an experienced renewable energy professional to lead greenfield project development, project delivery and corporate power off-taker development in Malaysia.
The ideal candidate should have proven experience in solar PV and/or energy storage projects, a strong understanding of Malaysia’s renewable energy market—particularly the CRESS framework—and established relationships with local authorities, TNB, corporate customers or other key stakeholders.
Long-term residence in Malaysia is required.
Job Responsibilities
1. **Market & Policy Expertise:** Stay abreast of policy developments in Peninsular Malaysia; interpret the core rules of the CRESS program model and relevant Energy Commission policies; assess solar and wind resources and analyze TNB’s operational requirements to formulate differentiated development strategies; monitor distributed energy resources across Southeast Asian archipelago nations to build a pipeline for future expansion.
2. **Full-Cycle Project Development:** Lead the end-to-end development of new energy projects, including site selection, land rights confirmation, and project registration; liaise with the Energy Commission for approvals, with a focus on advancing green power integration under the CRESS model; negotiate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), design financing solutions leveraging incentive policies, and coordinate equipment selection optimized for tropical climates.
3. **Resource Integration:** Maintain relationships with energy authorities and key stakeholders at TNB in Peninsular Malaysia; expand corporate partnerships specifically for the CRESS model; integrate supply chain and financing resources to facilitate project implementation.
4. **Risk Management:** Mitigate uncertainties regarding policy changes and grid interconnection by securing long-term revenue through PPAs; manage risks related to natural disasters and community disputes; ensure regulatory compliance and specifically address risks associated with the CRESS model.
Job Requirements
1. **Basic Requirements:** Bachelor’s degree or higher (majors in Energy, Business, or related fields preferred); 5+ years of experience in the new energy industry, including 3+ years of project development experience in Southeast Asia (specifically Malaysia); proven track record of leading 1–2 projects through the full development lifecycle; experience with the Peninsular Malaysia CRESS model is highly preferred.
2. **Language & Qualifications:** Fluent in English (capable of conducting business negotiations and contract signing); willing to be stationed locally or travel frequently; familiar with local business etiquette.
3. **Core Competencies:** In-depth knowledge of energy policies and approval processes in Peninsular Malaysia; established network with government bodies, enterprises, and power utility companies; skilled in local financing and business negotiations; capable of independently conducting project feasibility analyses.
4. **Personal Attributes:** Strong cross-cultural collaboration skills and familiarity with local customs; results-oriented with high resilience under pressure; able to efficiently drive project approvals and implementation.
