The Tax Associate is responsible for assisting in the preparation and submission of tax computations, tax returns and other statutory filings for a portfolio of clients. The role involves supporting clients in meeting their Malaysian tax obligations and ensuring that all assignments are completed accurately and within the required deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare corporate income tax computations and tax returns for companies, partnerships and other business entities.
- Prepare individual income tax computations and tax returns, where applicable.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of estimated tax payable and revised tax estimates.
- Monitor tax filing deadlines and maintain proper records of tax submissions and correspondence.
- Prepare and submit withholding tax forms and related supporting documents.
- Assist with Sales and Service Tax matters, including registration, return preparation and compliance review.
- Assist clients with Malaysian e-Invoice implementation and compliance matters, where applicable.
- Prepare tax schedules, supporting documents and reconciliations based on clients’ accounting records.
- Liaise with clients to obtain information and documents required for tax assignments.
- Communicate with the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia and other relevant authorities on routine tax matters.
- Assist with tax audits, investigations, appeals and requests for information from the tax authorities.
- Conduct basic tax research and keep updated on changes in Malaysian tax laws and regulations.
- Identify potential tax issues and highlight them to the Tax Senior or Tax Manager.
- Maintain complete and properly organised tax working papers and client files.
- Assist senior team members with tax advisory, tax planning and special assignments.
- Perform other tax-related duties assigned by the supervisor or management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or a related field.
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates with relevant tax or accounting experience will have an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of Malaysian corporate and individual income tax is preferred.
- Familiarity with accounting software, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Ability to communicate in Mandarin will be an added advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with numerical information.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet statutory deadlines.
- Willingness to learn and keep updated on changes in Malaysian tax regulations.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Professional Qualifications
Candidates who are pursuing or intending to pursue professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, MICPA, CTIM or other recognised professional qualifications will have an added advantage.
Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,500.00 per month
