Senior Interior Designer

Working location: Sentul, Kuala Lumpur


Job Summary

We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and commercially aware Senior Interior Designer to lead high-end residential and/or commercial design projects from concept to completion. The ideal candidate has strong design sensibility, technical knowledge, and site experience, with the ability to manage clients, coordinate with contractors, and mentor junior designers.


Key Responsibilities

1. Design Leadership

  • Lead conceptual design development, space planning, and presentation boards
  • Develop mood boards, material selections, and FF&E specifications
  • Produce detailed drawings (layout plans, elevations, sections, technical drawings)
  • Ensure designs align with brand identity, client brief, and budget

2. Project Management

  • Oversee projects from design stage to site completion
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and coordination
  • Conduct site visits to ensure design intent is executed correctly
  • Resolve technical issues and site challenges efficiently

3. Client Management

  • Attend client meetings and presentations
  • Translate client requirements into functional and aesthetic design solutions
  • Provide professional advice on materials, finishes, costing, and feasibility
  • Maintain strong client relationships to encourage referrals and repeat business

4. Technical & Coordination

  • Prepare detailed working drawings for construction
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and consultants
  • Review shop drawings and material samples
  • Ensure compliance with local authority requirements and safety standards

5. Team Leadership

  • Mentor and guide junior designers
  • Review design work before submission
  • Support management in improving SOPs and workflow efficiency


Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in Interior Design or related field
  • Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience
  • Strong portfolio showcasing residential and/or commercial projects
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3Ds Max/Enscape/V-Ray (or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of materials, construction detailing, and site coordination
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently
