Role Summary
The IT Intern will gain hands-on, practical exposure to corporate IT operations, systems administration, network troubleshooting, and software support by assisting the internal IT team with daily technical support, hardware/software deployment, and IT infrastructure maintenance.
This position offers structured mentorship designed to build practical skills in IT helpdesk management, system administration, network security, and corporate technology workflows.
Key Responsibilities & Learning Opportunities1. Technical Support & IT Infrastructure Operations
- IT Helpdesk & User Support: Assist the IT team in handling daily internal technical requests, user onboarding setup, hardware troubleshooting, and peripheral support (printers, access controls, network devices).
- Hardware & Software Deployment: Learn to format, configure, and deploy desktop/laptop workstations, operating systems (Windows/macOS), and standard business applications under direct supervision.
- Network & Systems Assistance: Assist in monitoring local area networks (LAN/Wi-Fi), server connectivity, cloud backups, and basic network infrastructure health.
- System Troubleshooting: Help diagnose and resolve software bugs, hardware faults, and connection issues, gaining real-time experience in resolving corporate IT incidents.
2. Administration & Security Compliance
- Asset & Inventory Management: Execute daily IT administrative tasks, including maintaining accurate hardware inventory logs, software license records, and technical documentation.
- Cybersecurity & Compliance: Learn to enforce data protection practices, system access controls, antivirus updates, and compliance with corporate IT security guidelines.
3. Team Support & Special Projects
- Ad-Hoc Projects: Support management with IT system upgrades, software migration testing, database updates, or technical research as assigned.
Job RequirementsEducation & Eligibility
- Current Qualification: Currently pursuing a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, System Administration, or any related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Internship Period: Available for a minimum internship duration of 3 to 6 months.
Languages
- English & Bahasa Malaysia: Professional working proficiency (written and spoken) is required for internal reporting, user support, and vendor coordination. (Mandarin proficiency is a plus if coordinating with regional technical partners).
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Technical Fundamentals: Basic to intermediate understanding of computer hardware, Windows OS environment, networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, Wi-Fi configuration), and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Problem-Solving & Aptitude: Strong logical thinking, sharp attention to detail, eagerness to learn new technologies, and a proactive attitude toward troubleshooting.
