We are partnering with an innovative technology company at the forefront of integrated photonics, developing advanced optical communication platforms that support AI infrastructure, hyperscale data centres and future high-speed networking technologies.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Optical Transceiver R&D Engineer to lead the characterization, validation and optimisation of next-generation optical transceiver reference designs operating at 400G, 800G and 1.6T+.
Working alongside experts in optics, firmware, DSP and hardware engineering, you will play a critical role in bringing cutting-edge optical communication technologies from development through qualification and production.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute validation plans for advanced optical transceivers
- Characterise module performance including BER, eye diagrams, TDECQ, OSNR, OMA, receiver sensitivity, latency and signal integrity
- Validate optical transceiver systems across electrical, optical and thermal domains
- Perform bring-up and debugging of QSFP and OSFP transceiver modules
- Collaborate with firmware and DSP teams to optimise overall system performance
- Support compliance testing to recognised industry standards
- Conduct structured root-cause analysis and implement engineering improvements
- Support product qualification and reliability testing
- Analyse test results and provide technical recommendations
- Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout product development
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline
- 5+ years' experience in high-speed optical transceiver design, testing or validation
- Experience with Datacom and/or Telecom optical communication systems
- Hands-on experience with QSFP and OSFP platforms
- Strong understanding of PAM4, BER, TDECQ, OSNR, jitter, eye diagrams and receiver sensitivity
- Experience using laboratory equipment including Oscilloscopes, DCA, BERT, OSA and VNA
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
