The successful candidate will be based in Singapore but will work for our clients across the Asia Pacific region.

Overview

A Senior Account Manager at Sandpiper manages the day-to-day delivery of client programmes, contributing a key role in the strategic direction and high-quality execution of client activities.


You will be expected to provide sound counsel to clients, manage complex workstreams, support account growth and play an active role in developing junior team members. You will also work closely with senior colleagues on business development, commercial planning and the overall direction of client accounts.


At a general level, the responsibilities include the following:

  • Apply proficient agency skills with enthusiasm and proactivity.
  • Lead the day-to-day management of client accounts and act as a trusted point of contact.
  • Manage, motivate, retain and develop junior team members.
  • Track time effectively and work efficiently, ensuring high-quality client servicing
  • Ensure consistently high standards of written work, strategic thinking and client service.


Client handling and account management

  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of client accounts and major workstreams.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients and build trusted relationships.
  • Anticipate client needs, identify risks and resolve issues before they affect delivery.
  • Lead client meetings and ensure actions, deadlines and deliverables are managed effectively.
  • Provide clear and practical communications advice within agreed areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of clients’ businesses, sectors and key issues.
  • Support account leads in managing budgets, resourcing, profitability and scope.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships and expand existing work.


Business Development

  • Play an active role in new business proposals and pitches.
  • Contribute ideas, research and commercial insight to growth opportunities.
  • Approach new business briefs with a thirst for knowledge and an inquisitive mindset.
  • Offer fresh ideas and innovative thinking to new business opportunities and existing client projects, while beginning to identify potential avenues for organic growth.
  • Build an external network and strengthen industry relationships.


Team Contribution

  • Manage and mentor junior team members, providing on-the-job training and support to enhance their development.
  • Delegate work, review outputs and provide regular feedback.
  • Support workload planning and ensure timely, efficient delivery.
  • Demonstrate the confidence to challenge, listen to others, and seek help when needed.
  • Be a role model for Sandpiper’s values and behaviours, embracing the company’s one P&L approach.


Strategy and innovation

  • Proficiently use research, insights and planning tools available at Sandpiper to drive strategic initiatives.
  • Lead research and analysis, using data and commercial judgement to identify key insights and develop evidence-based solutions.
  • Translate client business challenges into clear, practical and insight-led communications strategies.
  • Bring emerging trends, technologies and best-in-class creative thinking into client work to strengthen ideas and outcomes.


Media and Industry relations

  • Maintain a strong understanding of media trends, political developments and the wider business environment.
  • Build relationships with key journalists and industry contacts, and proactively pitch relevant stories.
  • Develop a deep understanding of clients’ businesses, issues and media landscapes.


Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, business or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of relevant communications experience, agency experience is an advantage
  • Financial or professional services experience would be an advantage.
  • Strong client servicing and account management skills.
  • Excellent writing, presentation and communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills

  • Entrepreneurial with strong business acumen
