Job Description

Responsibilities

What The Role Is

Join HTX, the world’s first Science and Technology agency dedicated to homeland security and be part of a mission that uses technology to keep Singapore safe and secure. As a statutory board of the Ministry of Home Affairs and an integral part of the Home Team, HTX brings together engineering, digital and scientific capabilities to deliver operationally ready solutions for Singapore’s frontline security agencies.

In this role, you will help sustain and strengthen operationally essential ICT infrastructure for Home Team Departments such as the Singapore Police Force, Singapore Civil Defence Force, Singapore Prison Service and Immigration & Checkpoints Authority. You will support enterprise infrastructure services that must remain reliable, secure and ready for operations, while contributing to technology refresh, automation, cybersecurity and service improvement initiatives that directly support national security operations.

If you thrive in complex environments involving enterprise network technologies, large-scale endpoint services, Active Directory/Azure AD, shared storage and backup management, and Hybrid Cloud networks, and prefer getting your hands dirty with technical problem-solving over pure administrative oversight, this role is for you.

What You Will Be Working On

You will play a key role in sustaining enterprise infrastructure services across the Home Team. These services include Active Directory, identity management, DNS, shared storage, email, collaboration platforms, application delivery, patch management, endpoint management, server management and network management.

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted technical advisor to Home Team Departments on enterprise infrastructure services and sustainment matters.
  • Lead automation initiatives that improve service delivery, operational efficiency and support effectiveness.
  • Work with project teams early in the planning phase to incorporate maintenance, supportability and operational readiness considerations into project requirements.
  • Implement infrastructure enhancements, technology refreshes and system upgrades to meet evolving operational needs across MHA and HTX.
  • Manage projects, vendors, budgets, technical specifications and delivery progress to ensure timely completion and compliance with contractual and service-level requirements.
  • Implement and maintain ICT security measures, remediate cybersecurity and audit findings, and ensure compliance with government policies and standards.
  • Work with system owners, operations teams and vendors to sustain systems throughout their life cycle and support high-availability operations.
  • Identify and recommend cost-effective approaches for obsolescence management, system refresh and mid-life upgrades.
  • Establish best practices, operational support standards and maintainable infrastructure designs across MHA and HTX.

You may also guide team members, coordinate vendors and provide technical direction across sustainment activities.

Why join us

  • Work on enterprise ICT infrastructure that supports national security operations and frontline Home Team agencies.
  • Gain exposure to large-scale infrastructure sustainment, technology refresh, automation and cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, operations, cybersecurity and service delivery.
  • Contribute to reliable, secure and operationally ready services that make a meaningful impact.

What We Are Looking For

  • A tertiary qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Studies, ICT Technology, Telecommunications or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in IT, infrastructure, systems management or related fields, with at least 1 year in a leadership role or experience guiding a small team.
  • Strong working knowledge of enterprise infrastructure, including desktop clients, servers, cloud infrastructure, networks, Microsoft Windows Server, Domain Controllers and Active Directory.
  • Good understanding of cybersecurity, IT governance, compliance requirements and audit remediation.
  • Good systems engineering knowledge, including system life cycle management and sustainment considerations.
  • Ability to work independently, think creatively, solve problems proactively and manage competing priorities in a mission-critical environment.
  • Good project management, stakeholder management, interpersonal and communication skills, with a positive working attitude.
  • Experience in systems management, project management, 24/7 operational systems, multi-vendor coordination, predictive maintenance or Home Team/MHA operations would be advantageous.
  • Relevant professional certifications, including Microsoft, infrastructure, cybersecurity or project management certifications, would be an added advantage.

All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.

As part of the shortlisting process for this role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment.

All applicants will be updated on the status of their applications within 4 weeks upon closing of the advertisement.
