Job Title: Chef de Partie (Pastry)
Job Purpose
Responsible for overseeing the pastry section, ensuring the preparation and presentation of pastries, desserts, and bakery items meet established recipes and quality standards.
Leads and supervises the pastry team in daily operations, maintains consistency in product quality, and ensures a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present pastries, desserts, and bakery items in accordance with standard recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the pastry section.
- Supervise, train, and guide junior kitchen staff (Cooks 1, 2, and 3) in food preparation and daily duties.
- Ensure consistency in taste, portioning, and presentation of all pastry items.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and sanitation at all times.
- Monitor proper storage, handling, and rotation of ingredients to minimize wastage and spoilage.
- Inspect and maintain cleanliness of work areas, store rooms, refrigerators, and freezers.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly used and maintained in good working condition.
- Assist the Pastry Chef in menu planning, preparation, and daily kitchen operations.
- Take charge of the pastry section in the absence of the Pastry Chef.
- Ensure compliance with all kitchen policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in pastry/kitchen operations, preferably in a hotel or high-volume kitchen.
- Diploma or Certificate in Culinary Arts, Pastry, or related field is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of pastry preparation, baking techniques, and food safety standards.
- Proven ability to supervise and train junior kitchen staff effectively.
- Good teamwork, time management, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
