About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, commercially astute and hands-on Head of Human Resources to lead and strengthen the organisation’s human resources function.

The successful candidate will oversee the full spectrum of HR operations while partnering with senior management to develop and implement effective people strategies that support the organisation’s business objectives, operational requirements and future growth.

This position is suitable for an accomplished HR generalist who is equally comfortable managing day-to-day HR operations and contributing at a strategic level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the full spectrum of Human Resources functions across the organisation.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, procedures and initiatives aligned with the Company’s business objectives.
  • Oversee workforce planning, manpower budgeting, talent acquisition, recruitment and succession planning.
  • Manage payroll administration, compensation and benefits, salary benchmarking and statutory compliance.
  • Plan and oversee employee training, leadership development, competency development and organisational capability-building initiatives.
  • Provide professional advice and guidance on industrial relations and employee relations matters.
  • Manage disciplinary processes, grievances, performance issues, domestic inquiries and other employee-related matters in accordance with applicable employment laws and procedural fairness.
  • Strengthen the Company’s performance management, talent review and employee engagement frameworks.
  • Partner with business and functional leaders on organisational development, workforce optimisation, restructuring and change-management initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Malaysian employment legislation, statutory requirements and established HR governance standards.
  • Develop meaningful HR reports, workforce analytics and recommendations for Management’s review and decision-making.
  • Lead, coach and develop the HR team to ensure effective and consistent delivery of HR services.

Requirements

  • Possess at least a Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Management, Psychology or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 12 years of relevant working experience in Human Resources, including substantial experience in a managerial or leadership capacity.
  • Strong HR generalist experience covering:
  • Manpower planning and recruitment;
  • Payroll, compensation and benefits;
  • Training and development;
  • Industrial relations and employee relations;
  • Performance management; and
  • HR policies, governance and statutory compliance.
  • Experience in an HR Business Partner or Strategic HR role will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in social media content development and proficiency in digital content creation tools such as Canva, together with practical exposure to artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT, NotebookLM or other comparable generative AI platforms, will be an added advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of Malaysian employment laws, industrial relations practices and statutory HR requirements.
  • Fluent in both spoken and written Bahasa Malaysia and English.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder-management, communication, negotiation and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Able to balance strategic priorities with hands-on operational responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, sound judgment and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Proficient in HR systems, payroll applications, Microsoft Office and HR reporting.
  • Candidates who are available to commence employment within a short notice period are strongly encouraged to apply.

Preferred Industry Background

Candidates with HR leadership experience in one or more of the following industries are preferred:

  • Diversified conglomerates or multi-business organisations;
  • Property development and real estate;
  • Construction, engineering or project-based businesses;
  • Infrastructure development and operations;
  • Asset, property or facilities management;
  • Hospitality and leisure; or
  • Renewable energy, green technology or energy-related businesses.

Experience supporting multiple business divisions, operating companies, project sites or geographically dispersed workforces would be particularly relevant.
