Job Description

Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The Sports Coordinator is responsible for planning, organising, coordinating and promoting the school's sports and physical education programmes. The role aims to encourage student participation in sports, foster healthy lifestyles, develop students' athletic abilities, and ensure the safe and effective implementation of all sporting activities, competitions, CCA and events. The job will involve working after school hours for coaching.

Key Responsibilities

Sports Programme Management

  • Develop and coordinate the annual school sports calendar.
  • Plan and organise inter-house, inter-school and external sports competitions.
  • Coordinate training schedules for school sports teams.
  • Support coaches and teachers in implementing sports programmes.
  • Promote student participation in sports and recreational activities.

Event Planning and Coordination

  • Organise Sports Day, athletics meets, tournaments and other sporting events.
  • Coordinate event logistics, venue bookings, transportation and equipment.
  • Liaise with officials, referees, sports associations and event organisers.
  • Ensure events are conducted safely and efficiently.

Student Development

  • Identify and nurture students with sporting potential.
  • Monitor students' participation, attendance and performance.
  • Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline and leadership.
  • Support students participating in external competitions.

Administration

  • Maintain accurate records of student participation, achievements and competition results.
  • Prepare reports on sports activities and student performance.
  • Manage sports registrations, consent forms and relevant documentation.
  • Maintain inventory records for sports equipment and uniforms.
  • Ensure proper storage and maintenance of sports equipment.

Budget and Procurement

  • Assist in preparing the annual sports budget.
  • Monitor expenditure within approved budgets.
  • Coordinate the purchase of sports equipment, uniforms and supplies.
  • Ensure cost-effective procurement and inventory management.

Safety and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with school safety policies during all sports activities.
  • Conduct risk assessments for sporting events and training sessions.
  • Ensure first aid arrangements are available during sports activities.
  • Report accidents, injuries and incidents promptly.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Communicate with parents regarding sports programmes and competitions.
  • Liaise with external coaches, sports clubs and governing bodies.
  • Build partnerships with community organisations to enhance sports programmes.

Compliance

  • Ensure all sports activities comply with school policies and relevant regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Management.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, Sports Management or a related discipline.
  • Relevant coaching certifications are an advantage.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in sports coordination, coaching or school sports administration.
  • Experience organising sporting events and competitions.
  • Experience working with children or students is preferred.

Knowledge

  • Sports administration and event management.
  • Rules and regulations for various sports.
  • Risk management and student safety.
  • Basic budgeting and inventory management.
