Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Centre Cooling Systems Architect/Engineer to lead the design, optimisation, and scaling of cooling infrastructure for high-performance computing and cloud environments. This role focuses on delivering reliable, efficient, and sustainable cooling solutions while supporting future growth and evolving technology requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop cooling system architectures and detailed designs from plant-level infrastructure through to rack-level cooling solutions.
- Design and optimise both air-cooled and liquid-cooled environments for high-density computing workloads.
- Support capacity planning and thermal management strategies to accommodate changing power and cooling demands.
- Select and size cooling equipment to meet performance, scalability, and efficiency objectives.
- Define operational strategies and system configurations to maximise energy and water efficiency.
- Perform engineering analyses, including airflow, thermal, hydraulic, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) studies.
- Create standardised design frameworks to improve delivery efficiency and reduce project costs.
- Develop forward-looking cooling strategies that support future technology and workload requirements.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver complex projects and achieve successful outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in data centre design, including senior engineering or management responsibilities.
- Strong background in thermal modelling, airflow analysis, heat load calculations, hydraulic calculations, and CFD simulations.
- Experience designing critical mechanical infrastructure and associated support systems.
- Knowledge of a broad range of cooling technologies, including evaporative cooling, heat exchange systems, chillers, liquid cooling, and emerging cooling methods.
- Experience with plant operations, control philosophies, and system sequencing.
- Familiarity with energy modelling and sustainable building practices.
- Experience supporting large-scale or hyperscale data centre environments.
- Proficiency with engineering design and drafting tools such as AutoCAD.
