The Assistant Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day finance and accounting operations, including month-end closing, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting support, and ensuring compliance with statutory and group reporting requirements. The role involves hands-on accounting responsibilities, collaborating with internal stakeholders, supporting business performance analysis, and driving continuous process improvements.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Perform bookkeeping, data entry and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank statements.
  • Ensure timely payment processing and obtain necessary approvals in accordance with the Delegation of Authority.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and perform credit control.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing, including management reports and audit schedules.
  • Liaise with external auditors and assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements and annual audits.
  • Preparation of monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and variance analysis.
  • Monitor departmental budgets and provide financial insights to management.
  • Prepare financial reports and presentation materials for management meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS), tax regulations, and internal financial policies.
  • Prepare GST returns, corporate tax schedules, and other statutory submissions where required.
  • Prepare financial analysis and feasibility studies to support business initiatives.
  • Work closely with department heads to provide financial information and support operational decision-making.
  • Coordinate and participate in year-end stock take and investigate inventory variances.
  • Review and improve finance processes and internal controls for greater operational efficiency.
  • Support system enhancements and finance-related projects.
  • Perform other ad-hoc finance and accounting duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge

  • Degree in Accountancy or Finance.
  • Able to work independently.
  • CPA Singapore, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
  • At least 5-8 years of relevant accounting and finance experience.
  • Audit experience is advantageous.
  • Experience in commercial finance or the SME, retail, consumer, or F&B industry is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and local statutory requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Meticulous, analytical, and detail-oriented.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Terra reporting systems will be an advantage.
