Job Description

Responsibilities

We’re Hiring: Student Success & Careers Associate

Help our students transform their careers and build the strongest tech education community in Malaysia.

At Sigmaschool, we are rebuilding education for the AI era. We believe people should not have to spend years collecting certificates before they can build valuable skills, create real products, and access better career opportunities.

But education is not transformed by curriculum alone.

Students succeed when someone notices that they are falling behind, pushes them when they lose momentum, connects them to the right opportunities, and stays accountable for their progress until they achieve a real outcome.

That is the purpose of this role.

Your Mission

You will own the student journey from the moment someone enrols until they graduate, enter the workforce, and become part of our alumni community.

You are not here simply to answer student questions or organise activities.

You are here to improve:

- Student engagement and programme completion

- Student satisfaction and trust

- Graduate interview and employment outcomes

- Relationships with hiring partners

- Alumni participation and referrals

- The strength of the Sigma School community

When students succeed, Sigmaschool succeeds.

What You’ll Own

1. Student Progress and Experience

You will know where every student stands.

You will:

- Onboard new students and help them start strongly

- Track attendance, submissions, engagement, and progress

- Identify struggling or disengaged students before they disappear

- Conduct check-ins and create recovery plans with the education team

- Ensure students understand what they need to do next

- Collect feedback and turn recurring problems into better systems

- Celebrate student milestones, projects, and breakthroughs

Your goal is not to keep students comfortable. Your goal is to make students feel supported, challenged, and capable of completing what they started.

2. Careers and Employment Outcomes

You will help students convert their skills into career opportunities.

You will:

- Track each graduate’s job-search progress

- Support CVs, portfolios, LinkedIn profiles, applications, and interviews

- Coordinate mock interviews, career workshops, and employer sessions

- Follow up consistently with graduates until they build momentum

- Track interviews, offers, placements, salaries, and career outcomes

- Identify where graduates are getting stuck and improve the process

3. Hiring Partnerships

You will help build relationships with companies that need capable, AI-native talent.

You will:

- Identify and reach out to potential hiring partners

- Understand what employers need from junior technology talent

- Introduce relevant graduates to suitable opportunities

- Coordinate employer talks, interviews, hiring events, and talent showcases

- Maintain long-term relationships with recruiters, founders, and hiring managers

- Gather employer feedback and bring it back into our education experience

Over time, we want employers to think of Sigmaschool first when they need ambitious, practical technology talent.

4. Community, Events, and Alumni

You will turn a programme into a lifelong community.

You will:

- Organise orientations, meetups, workshops, demo days, graduations, and alumni events

- Create opportunities for students to learn from and support one another

- Keep alumni connected after they graduate

- Invite alumni to mentor students, share opportunities, speak at events, and contribute

- Capture student stories, testimonials, career wins, and transformations

- Build an environment that students are proud to recommend to others

A strong alumni network should eventually become one of Sigma School’s greatest competitive advantages.

How Your Success Will Be Measured

This is an outcomes-driven role. Your scorecard may include:

- Student attendance and weekly submission rates

- Student retention and programme completion

- Student satisfaction and feedback

- Number of disengaged students successfully recovered

- Graduate job-search activity

- Interviews and employment outcomes

- Active hiring partners and opportunities generated

- Event attendance and community engagement

- Alumni participation

- Student testimonials and referrals

You will have clear targets, access to the relevant data, and the ownership to improve the systems behind those targets.

You’ll Thrive Here If You Are

- Deeply motivated by helping people change their lives

- Warm and empathetic, but comfortable holding people accountable

- Extremely reliable with follow-ups

- Highly organised and able to manage many moving parts

- Proactive, you notice problems before they become emergencies

- Comfortable reaching out to students, alumni, recruiters, and employers

- Able to build genuine relationships without being afraid to ask for outcomes

- Good at organising events and bringing communities together

- Comfortable using data, spreadsheets, automation, and AI tools

- Energised by education, technology, careers, and the future of work

- Someone who takes ownership of results, not merely assigned tasks

You do not need to be a software developer. But you must be curious enough to understand what our students are learning, what employers are looking for, and what it takes to build a successful technology career.

This Role Is Probably Not for You If

- You see student success as answering messages and handling complaints

- You wait for students to approach you before taking action

- You frequently forget to follow up

- You are uncomfortable discussing performance or accountability

- You prefer organising activities without measuring their impact

- You dislike outreach, partnerships, or speaking to new people

- You need a narrow and predictable job scope

- You measure your work by how busy you were rather than what changed

What Working at Sigma School Is Like

We are a small, ambitious team taking on universities, outdated bootcamps, and an education system that is moving too slowly for the AI era.

There is no large department to hide behind.

Everyone here must contribute to outcomes that move the company forward.

You may support a struggling student in the morning, meet a hiring partner in the afternoon, and organise a graduate showcase the following week.

You will be given significant ownership, direct access to decision-makers, and the opportunity to build systems that could shape the careers of thousands of people.

We value:

Day 1 attitude. Builder, not bystander. Output over opinions. Speak directly. Move fast. Win together.
