Responsibilities

Company Description Sunway International School (SIS) offers three globally recognized curricula: the Canadian (Ontario) Programme, the Cambridge International Programme (IGCSE), and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). SIS Sunway City Kuala Lumpur, established in 2008, is licensed by the Ministry of Education Ontario, Canada to grant credits leading to the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. A second campus in Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, Johor, opened in 2017 and provides Kindergarten to Grade 12 programmes. As of 2023, SIS KL has relocated to a purpose-built 8-acre campus in USJ 1, offering Kindergarten to Grade 11. From July 2023, SIS KL will also offer the Cambridge (IGCSE and A Level) Programme for Years 1 to 13, supporting a diverse and international learning environment.

Role Description This full-time Secondary Science Teacher role is a short-term contract position based on-site at Sunway International School in Selangor, Malaysia. The teacher will plan, deliver, and assess engaging science lessons aligned with the school’s curricula, with emphasis on developing scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Daily responsibilities include preparing lesson materials, conducting laboratory activities safely, managing classroom behavior, and providing timely feedback on student work. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, participate in school meetings and events, and maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance. Additional duties may include providing academic support, communicating with parents or guardians as needed, and contributing to co-curricular or enrichment activities related to science education.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in Science Education and subject knowledge in Science at secondary level.
  • Recognized teaching qualification preferred.
  • Excellent Communication skills, including clear instructional delivery and effective collaboration with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to create inclusive, student-centered learning environments and manage diverse classrooms.
  • Experience with assessment for learning, use of educational technology, and differentiated instruction.
  • Willingness to engage in professional development and support school-wide initiatives.
