Responsibilities
Job Summary
We are seeking a Workload Automation Engineer to lead the assessment, design, and migration of our legacy batch jobs from local Linux crontab schedulers to CA AutoSys (Workload Automation AE). The ideal candidate will have strong Linux shell scripting experience, deep expertise with AutoSys JIL syntax, and a proven track record of migrating single-server scheduled tasks into robust, enterprise-grade workload chains.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Hands-on AutoSys Expertise
5+ years of experience working with CA AutoSys Workload Automation AE, including JIL scripting, autorep, sendevent, and CLI tools.
• Linux / Unix Mastery
Strong command of Linux administration, system logging, and file permissions related to batch processing.
• Shell Scripting
Proficient in Bash, KornShell (KSH), or Python for debugging and refining underlying application scripts.
• Batch Scheduling Concepts
Strong understanding of job dependencies, calendars, global variables, and SLA monitoring.
• Problem Solving
Ability to trace batch job failures across complex multi-server environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Audit & Inventory
Analyze existing Linux crontab files across multiple application servers to identify dependencies, schedule overlaps, and failure handling logic.
• Migration & Conversion
Convert legacy cron entries into enterprise AutoSys JIL (Job Information Language) definitions, utilizing cron2jil tools and manual refinement.
• Workflow Optimization
Redesign flat time-based schedules into dependency-driven job streams using AutoSys conditions (success, failure, done, exitcode).
• Environment Configuration
Configure AutoSys job attributes including machine, owner, command, std_out_file, std_err_file, and alarm thresholds.
• Testing & Validation
Conduct parallel execution testing in non-production environments.
