Job Summary
The Construction Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) programs throughout the construction phase of pharmaceutical and biotechnology facilities. The role ensures compliance with Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) regulations, project requirements, and client standards while promoting a strong safety culture across all construction activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and implement project HSE plans, procedures, and safety initiatives.
- Conduct routine site inspections, safety audits, and compliance assessments.
- Monitor contractor HSE performance and ensure compliance with project HSE requirements and applicable WSH regulations.
- Conduct incident investigations and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Review risk assessments, Safe Work Procedures (SWP), and Permit-to-Work (PTW) documentation for high-risk activities.
- Facilitate site safety inductions, toolbox talks, and HSE awareness programs.
- Monitor HSE observations, audit findings, and corrective action closure.
- Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and client representatives to support the safe execution of construction activities.
- Prepare HSE reports, inspection records, and other project safety documentation.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline, or an Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience in construction health and safety within industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, or building construction projects.
- Knowledge of Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) regulations, risk assessment, incident investigation, contractor safety management, and HSE auditing.
- Experience with contractor management, site inspections, safety observations, and corrective action tracking.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, cleanroom, GMP, semiconductor, or other regulated industrial projects is advantageous.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) or equivalent.
- Additional HSE certifications such as NEBOSH, ISO 45001 Internal Auditor, or related professional certifications are advantageous.
