Job Summary

We are seeking a Design Engineer to support the structural design and detailing of Precast and RC Structural Works.

The successful candidate will be involved in structural design calculations, reinforcement detailing, shop drawings and technical coordination for precast and reinforced concrete structural elements. The role requires close collaboration with Professional Engineers (PE), consultants, clients, production teams and site personnel to ensure designs are safe, practical, constructible and compliant with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute design activities in accordance with project requirements, timelines and site progress.
• Prepare structural design calculations for precast and RC structural elements, including walls, slabs, beams, columns, staircases and other structural components.
• Work closely with the Professional Engineer (PE) to ensure safe design for lifting, handling and temporary conditions of precast concrete elements.
• Prepare and review structural details, reinforcement drawings, shop drawings and erection drawings.
• Check drawings for accuracy, constructability and compliance with design intent.
• Liaise with external consultants, including Architects, C&S and M&E consultants, to obtain missing design information and resolve technical issues.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies between structural, architectural and other project documentation.
• Review construction sequencing and coordinate design deliverables according to project and site requirements.
• Modify and optimize designs based on project requirements, construction methodology, production capabilities and site constraints.
• Coordinate with clients and consultants to obtain approvals for design submissions and drawings.
• Work closely with Production, Planning, QA/QC and site teams to ensure designs are practical and suitable for manufacturing and construction.
• Provide technical guidance, sketches and design input to BIM Modelers and Drafters in the preparation of layouts, shop drawings, erection drawings and reinforcement detailing.
• Ensure designs and drawings comply with relevant design codes, standards and client specifications.
• Assist the project team and Main Contractor in resolving Precast and RC Structural Works-related technical issues at site.
• Assist in preparing Method Statements (MoS) for precast/RC rectification, repair and other site works where required.
• Perform other engineering and technical duties as assigned by management.

Requirements & Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience in structural design, preferably in Precast and RC Structural Works.
• Strong knowledge of RC structural design, analysis and reinforcement detailing.
• Experience with precast concrete structural systems will be an advantage.
• Proficient in structural design software such as STAAD, ETABS or equivalent.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and BIM software such as Tekla Structures and Allplan.
• Knowledge of relevant structural design codes, including Eurocode, BS or applicable local standards.
• Good understanding of structural drawings, shop drawings and construction requirements.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Able to work effectively with consultants, PE, contractors and internal departments.
• Willing to work closely with site and production teams when required.
