Job Summary
The Factory Systems Engineer (Automation & AI) is responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting factory automation, digitalisation, and system integration solutions across manufacturing operations. This role combines manufacturing knowledge with software development expertise to drive productivity improvements, enhance operational efficiency, and support smart manufacturing initiatives through automation, AI, and Industrial IoT technologies
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement automation solutions, software applications, and workflow improvements to support manufacturing operations.
- Design and build integrations between Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), SAP/ERP platforms, equipment, and shopfloor systems.
- Develop software applications, scripts, and tools using Python, SQL, APIs, and related technologies.
- Create AI-enabled solutions to improve productivity, automate data processing, and support business decision-making.
- Support machine connectivity, data acquisition, and Industrial IoT initiatives across the manufacturing environment.
- Perform system testing, troubleshooting, deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle support of factory applications.
- Analyse business requirements and translate them into practical digitalisation and automation solutions.
- Ensure all systems and solutions comply with cybersecurity, access control, and governance standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process optimisation and technology adoption.
Qualification / Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Automation, or a related field.
- Experience in factory automation, manufacturing systems integration, software development, or industrial digitalisation projects.
- Proficiency in Python programming, SQL, APIs, and workflow automation.
- Experience integrating MES, SAP/ERP, equipment, and shopfloor systems.
- Understanding of Industrial IoT, machine connectivity, and data acquisition technologies.
- Familiarity with Visual Studio Code and modern software development practices.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Anthropic Claude.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Experience in Smart Manufacturing, MES, SAP integration, Industrial IoT, or Aerospace MRO environments will be an advantage.
