Position Summary

Seeking a hands-on and technically capable Project / M&E Engineer to form part of the Company's internal project team and support the execution of a mineral processing plant project from engineering and equipment delivery through installation, testing, commissioning and operational handover.

The role will focus on the technical coordination and execution of mechanical and electrical equipment installation, working closely with the internal project team and coordinating external contractors, equipment suppliers, consultants and specialist resources where required.

The successful candidate should have practical experience with heavy industrial machinery and equipment, including installation, testing and commissioning.

Mining or mineral processing experience is advantageous but not mandatory. Candidates from cement, quarry, steel, power, manufacturing, process plants, EPC/EPCM and other heavy industrial environments will be considered.

Following commissioning, the role will support operational and maintenance readiness, including establishing appropriate preventive and planned maintenance requirements for critical plant equipment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Engineering & Technical Coordination

• Work as part of the internal project team to execute the process plant project.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, fabrication, delivery, installation and commissioning interfaces.
• Review engineering drawings, equipment layouts, specifications, P&IDs and vendor documentation.
• Identify technical issues and coordinate solutions with engineering consultants, vendors and internal teams.
• Ensure site execution is aligned with approved engineering requirements.
• Coordinate internal resources and external specialist contractors where required.

2. Equipment Installation

• Provide technical coordination and oversight for installation of crushers, screens, conveyors, grinding mills, pumps, dewatering equipment, motors and drives, piping systems, tanks, structural/mechanical equipment and other process and auxiliary machinery.
• Coordinate equipment delivery, positioning, installation, alignment and mechanical completion.
• Review installation methods and technical requirements.
• Coordinate equipment vendors and specialist technicians where required.
• Identify installation problems before they affect commissioning.

3. Testing & Commissioning

• Develop and coordinate equipment testing and pre-commissioning activities.
• Support dry commissioning, wet commissioning and integrated plant commissioning.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and process interfaces during commissioning.
• Ensure equipment is properly prepared before energisation and operation.
• Develop and maintain commissioning checklists and punch lists.
• Coordinate troubleshooting and rectification of commissioning issues.
• Track outstanding defects through to closure.
• Support plant ramp-up and transition into normal operations.

4. Operational & Maintenance Readiness

• Support preparation of the plant for operational handover.
• Work with Operations and Maintenance teams to identify critical equipment and maintenance requirements.
• Establish preventive and planned maintenance requirements for major equipment.
• Identify critical spares, consumables, tools and maintenance resources required before start-up.
• Support development of equipment maintenance schedules and inspection requirements.
• Ensure relevant equipment documentation, manuals and maintenance information are available for handover.
• Support Operations and Maintenance teams during the transition from commissioning to routine operation.

5. Site & Project Progress

• Monitor actual project progress against the approved schedule and milestones.
• Participate in site coordination meetings and project reviews.
• Identify construction and installation constraints that could affect project schedule.
• Coordinate resolution of technical and interface issues.
• Maintain records of equipment installation, testing and commissioning status.
• Assist with project reporting and management updates.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, relevant or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering, project, installation or commissioning experience.
• Hands-on experience with industrial machinery, process equipment or heavy equipment installation.
• Experience in equipment testing and commissioning.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, equipment layouts, P&IDs and technical specifications.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities.
• Willingness to work at project / mine site and travel when required.
• Hands-on and practical, strong engineering fundamentals, able to work within an internal project team, strong equipment installation and commissioning capability, good understanding of mechanical and electrical interfaces, strong problem-solving and coordination skills, detail-oriented and technically curious, able to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities, strong communication and interpersonal skills and safety-conscious and accountable.

Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM7,000.00 per month
