MAIN SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

Be responsible for planning, directing, controlling and coordinating the activities of Engineering Department in civil section

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Develop and conduct departmental trainings, cross-trainings, and SOP refreshment trainings for the Engineering staffs in the civil section.

2.Evaluate the job competency of the Engineering staffs in the civil section from time to time and extensively during the departmental performance evaluation.

3.Motivate the staffs individually. Give recognition and provide counseling to them and supervise staff’s conduct, work and proper use of equipments. Be tough, objective and consistent in giving reward and punishment to them.

4.Regularly share the team’s vision and support the company’s vision to give clear directions and inspiration to the entire team.

5.Chair the sectional meeting to ensure smooth communication among individuals and sections, to update product knowledge, to continually promote a solid team work and congenial working atmosphere within the department.

6.Brief the Engineering staffs in the civil section for functions, VIP arrivals and other events that will need special preparations.

7.Record which staff gets what in terms of ‘job well done, ‘counseling sheet’, reprimand, etc. that will be used when doing the staff evaluation.

8.Be a good role model by displaying “walk the talk” attitude at all times.

9.Check the overall neatness of staff’s uniforms and grooming.

10.Make and control work schedules of the Engineering staffs in the civil section.

11.Actively participate in controlling expenditures cost in the section.

12.Regularly inspect the entire building with special attention to any defective items.

13.Be available for any emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency and act quickly and responsibly to return the building to its normal operating status.

14.Be aware of all existing sectional jobs safety analysis and strive to work in an accident free manner and create a safe work environment for others.

15.Direct and lead subordinate concerning operating procedures on maintenance and repairs of machines and equipments.

16.Prepare periodical reports of repairs and maintenance of guest rooms, service and public area.

17.Records all important and significant engineering happenings and events that happen during shift.

18.Performs all painting and varnishing jobs.

19.Performs masonry, carpentry works.

20.Install, replace, and fix doors, windows including the hardware.

21.Repair all furniture of guest rooms, public and service area.

22.Performs repair and maintain works to building, guest rooms, public and service areas of the hotel concerning civil section.

23.Monitor work done by outside contractors and report it to superiors.

24.Submit request to the superior for the procurement of spare parts, materials etc.

25.Maintains all tool and equipment in civil section.

26.Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of work area.

Pay: From RM3,000.00 per month
