About the Role
The HR Lead (Senior Manager), Malaysia is responsible for leading the full spectrum of HR activities and overseeing the end-to-end employee lifecycle for the Malaysia workforce. As the key HR representative for Malaysia, this role partners closely with business leaders and regional HR teams to drive people priorities, provide HR advisory, strengthen employee experience, and ensure effective implementation of HR policies and practices. This role covers HR business partnering, employee relations, performance and talent management, HR operations, employee engagement, and local compliance. Recruitment execution is managed separately by the Talent Acquisition team.
Responsibilities
HR Leadership & Business Partnership
- Serve as the HR Lead and primary HR point of contact for Malaysia.
- Partner with business leaders on organisation planning, manpower needs and people priorities.
- Provide HR advisory and guidance to managers on people-related matters and decisions.
- Translate business requirements into practical HR and people solutions.
- Partner with regional HR teams to implement group-wide people initiatives locally.
Employee Lifecycle Management
- Oversee the end-to-end employee lifecycle from onboarding through offboarding, ensuring key employee processes, movements and people matters are managed effectively and consistently.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition on workforce requirements, while recruitment execution is managed separately by the recruitment team.
Performance & Talent Management
- Lead Malaysia's performance management and talent processes.
- Partner with managers on goal setting, performance conversations and performance improvement.
- Facilitate talent reviews, succession planning and development discussions.
- Identify key talent, development needs and retention risks.
- Support promotion and internal mobility discussions.
Employee Relations & HR Advisory
- Advise managers on employee relations and people matters.
- Manage disciplinary, grievance, misconduct and performance-related cases.
- Provide guidance on sensitive or complex employee situations.
- Ensure employee matters are handled fairly, consistently and with appropriate documentation.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Drive employee engagement and people initiatives in Malaysia.
- Partner with leaders to strengthen culture and employee experience.
- Identify employee trends, concerns and retention risks and recommend appropriate actions.
- Support organisational development and change management initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- 8–12 years of progressive HR experience, with strong exposure to full-spectrum HR.
- Prior experience in an HR Lead, Senior HR Manager, HRBP Lead or similar capacity.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysia employment laws and HR practices.
- Strong experience in HR business partnering, employee relations, performance management, talent management and HR operations.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex and sensitive employee matters.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving and regional environment.
- Experience in technology, fintech or a high-growth organisation would be advantageous.
