Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and energetic Junior Barista to join our café team at City University Malaysia’s Cyberjaya campus. This entry-level role is perfect for someone eager to learn the art of coffee making while delivering excellent service to our university community. You will support daily café operations, assist senior team members, and help create a welcoming, positive environment for students, staff, and campus visitors.
No extensive prior experience is required, as on-the-job training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Beverage Preparation: Learn and assist in preparing basic hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks, strictly following standard recipes.
- Customer Service: Welcome customers warmly, take orders accurately, handle cash or point-of-sale (POS) transactions, and answer basic questions about the menu.
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean, operate, and maintain coffee grinders, espresso machines, and blender equipment safely under supervision.
- Hygiene & Cleanliness: Maintain excellent food safety standards by continuously clearing tables, washing utensils, and sanitising workstations and seating areas.
- Stock & Inventory: Monitor daily stock levels, replenish ingredients like milk, coffee beans, and syrups, and report low inventory to the supervisor.
- Team Support: Support senior baristas during peak university hours, campus events, and seasonal promotional activities.
- Compliance: Adhere strictly to all campus safety policies and food hygiene regulations.
Requirements
- Experience: Fresh graduates, school leavers, or individuals with zero experience are highly encouraged to apply. Prior retail or customer service experience is an advantage.
- Skills: Strong communication skills with a friendly, approachable personality suited for a vibrant university environment.
- Speed & Adaptability: Ability to stay focused and work efficiently during busy campus rush hours (e.g., lunch breaks, event days).
- Attitude: A strong willingness to learn, receive feedback, and operate closely within a team environment.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours aligned with campus hours, which may include occasional weekend university events.
Qualifications
- Minimum of SPM or equivalent academic certificate.
- A Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Food & Beverage, or a related field is a welcome advantage but not mandatory.

Pay: RM2,000.00 - RM2,500.00 per month
