Senior Subsea Engineer

Role Summary

Provide senior-level engineering support across subsea production systems, pipelines, risers, umbilicals and associated interfaces for deepwater SURF developments. The role involves developing and reviewing engineering deliverables from concept and FEED through detailed design, installation and offshore execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, review and assure subsea engineering deliverables for deepwater SURF projects, including design philosophies, specifications, calculations, studies, scopes of work and technical reports.
• Support the definition and selection of subsea field architecture, equipment, pipelines, risers, umbilicals and installation strategies.
• Coordinate technical interfaces between subsea production systems, pipelines, risers, flow assurance, installation, structures, controls, marine and topsides disciplines.
• Review vendor and contractor documentation, technical bids, deviations and qualification plans, and provide clear technical recommendations.
• Apply relevant project specifications, client requirements and recognised international codes and standards.
• Identify technical risks, assumptions and design constraints; contribute to design reviews, HAZID, constructability, operability and installation reviews.
• Support offshore installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities when required.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and provide technical guidance across the project team.

Experience and Qualifications

• Mandatory: directly relevant SURF and deepwater project experience.
• Degree in Mechanical, Subsea, Ocean, Offshore, Civil or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Typically 10 years or more of relevant subsea engineering experience, including significant deepwater SURF project exposure.
• Demonstrable experience with subsea pipelines, risers, umbilicals, structures and their system interfaces.
• Experience across concept, FEED and detailed design; offshore or installation-phase experience is strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of relevant DNV, API, ISO and ASME requirements.
• Strong technical writing, multidisciplinary coordination and stakeholder communication skills.

Software and Technical Tools

• Engineering calculation and document tools.
• Familiarity with OrcaFlex, ABAQUS, ANSYS, SAGE or equivalent specialist subsea software is advantageous.

A technically credible and delivery-focused engineer who can work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment, challenge assumptions constructively, communicate risk clearly and produce high-quality engineering within programme requirements. The successful candidate must be comfortable engaging with clients, contractors, vendors and offshore stakeholders.
