Commodity Trading | Base Metals | Finance | Accounting

About us

We are a Singapore-based commodity trading company specializing in copper and related metals, with an established presence globally and our parent company headquartered in Hong Kong. Our business involves physical trading, structured transactions, and risk-managed trading strategies.

The role

As an Accountant Intern, you'll work closely with our finance and operations teams across the full accounting cycle of a physical metals trading business — from trade invoicing to month-end close. You'll learn how commodity trades are priced, invoiced and booked, and you'll be doing real work, not just filing.

You will:

  • Assist in preparing provisional and final priced invoices, and check commodity price computations against the agreed pricing period
  • Coordinate with the operations team to ensure invoices are issued on time with the required trade and shipping documents
  • Record day-to-day financial transactions in Xero and keep ledgers accurate and up to date
  • Perform bank, customer and supplier reconciliations; investigate and follow up on discrepancies
  • Support month-end closing, including revenue cut-off checks with our operations team in China and related entities in Africa
  • Help prepare GST filings and supporting schedules for corporate income tax
  • Prepare audit schedules and maintain organised, audit-ready records, including for specialised tax and trade schemes
  • Liaise with banks, auditors and vendors on routine matters, and support ad hoc finance and administrative tasks as needed

Your profile

You are currently a third-year or final-year undergraduate, or a postgraduate student, preferably in Accountancy, Finance or a related field. You'll also bring:

  • A solid grounding in accounting fundamentals —double-entry bookkeeping, accruals, reconciliations and basic financial statements
  • Proficiency in Excel (e.g. lookups and pivot tables); experience with Xero or other accounting software is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail — numbers matter, and you check your work before passing it on
  • Interest in commodity trading and how physical trades translate into the books
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin
  • An organised, self-starter mindset — you take ownership, follow through, and flag problems early

What we value

  • Commercial thinking. We care about what moves markets — we want people who do too.
  • Getting things done. We're a lean team. You'll be given responsibility and expected to deliver.
  • Intellectual rigour. We back our views with data and reasoning, not gut feel alone.
  • Adaptability. Markets change fast. So do we.
