Senior Flow Assurance Engineer

Location: Kuala Lumpur

Role Summary

Deliver flow assurance engineering for deepwater subsea production and SURF systems, ensuring safe and reliable transport of hydrocarbons from reservoir interface to receiving facilities. Perform steady-state and transient studies and convert results into practical design and operating requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform steady-state and transient multiphase flow simulations for deepwater wells, flowlines, risers, pipelines, and production networks.
• Develop flow assurance design bases, philosophies, calculation notes, reports, operating envelopes, and technical specifications.
• Assess pressure drop, thermal performance, cooldown, restart, turndown, ramp-up, depressurisation, liquid handling, and capacity constraints.
• Evaluate hydrate, wax, scale, slugging, erosion, corrosion, and solids risks and develop prevention, management, and remediation strategies.
• Define insulation, heating, chemical injection, pigging, preservation, and operating requirements in collaboration with relevant disciplines.
• Support concept selection, FEED, and detailed design and provide inputs to line sizing, material selection, equipment design, and operating procedures.
• Validate models and assumptions against process, reservoir, production chemistry, and field data, and undertake sensitivity and uncertainty analysis.
• Review contractor and vendor work, contribute to technical reviews, and mentor less experienced engineers.

Experience and Qualifications

• Mandatory: directly relevant SURF and deepwater project experience.
• Degree in Chemical, Process, Petroleum, or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Typically 10 years or more of flow assurance experience, including substantial deepwater subsea and SURF project exposure.
• Strong experience in steady-state and transient multiphase simulation for subsea production systems.
• Demonstrable knowledge of hydrates, wax, scale, slugging, thermal-hydraulic behaviour, and production chemistry interfaces.
• Experience across concept, FEED, and detailed design; operational or commissioning support experience is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, technical reporting, and multidisciplinary communication skills.

Software and Technical Tools

• Advanced OLGA capability is expected.
• Experience with PIPESIM, Multiflash, PVTSim, Aspen HYSYS, or equivalent flow assurance and fluid-modelling tools is advantageous.

A technically credible and delivery-focused engineer who can work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment, challenge assumptions constructively, communicate risk clearly, and produce high-quality engineering within programme requirements. The successful candidate must be comfortable engaging with clients, contractors, vendors, and offshore stakeholders.
