Job Description

Responsibilities

We are seeking a driven and intellectually curious individual to join our team as an Economic & Investment Analyst Intern.

This internship is designed for candidates who are interested in understanding how economic developments, financial markets, industries, and businesses interact to influence investment decisions. Interns will gain practical exposure to economic research, market analysis, investment themes, and the preparation of professional analytical materials.

The role is suitable for students and graduates who are interested in economics, finance, investment management, financial markets, research, or related analytical careers.

Economic Research & Macroeconomic Analysis

A key component of the internship involves monitoring and analysing developments in the global and Singapore economy.

You may research topics such as:

  • Inflation and interest-rate developments
  • Monetary and fiscal policy
  • Economic growth and labour-market conditions
  • Currency and foreign-exchange movements
  • Global trade and geopolitical developments
  • Central-bank decisions
  • Consumer and business sentiment
  • Major economic indicators and economic cycles

Interns will learn how to interpret economic information and assess its potential implications for financial markets, businesses, industries, and investment conditions.

Rather than simply reporting economic data, you will be encouraged to understand the factors driving changes in the economy and communicate their significance in a clear and structured manner.

Investment & Financial Markets Research

Interns will also support research relating to financial markets and investment opportunities.

Assignments may involve analysing:

  • Equity markets
  • Fixed-income markets
  • Investment funds and ETFs
  • Industry and sector performance
  • Listed companies
  • Market sentiment and investor positioning
  • Investment themes and emerging trends
  • Asset-class performance
  • Corporate and financial developments

You may examine how macroeconomic conditions, company developments, policy changes, and broader market trends influence investment performance and investor behaviour.

This exposure will help interns develop a stronger understanding of how investment professionals evaluate markets and form investment views.

Company & Industry Analysis

The role may involve researching individual companies, industries, and sectors to better understand their financial and commercial outlook.

You may assist with:

  • Reviewing company announcements and financial information
  • Studying business models and competitive positioning
  • Comparing companies within an industry
  • Identifying key industry trends and structural changes
  • Assessing growth opportunities and potential risks
  • Monitoring corporate developments that may affect investment performance

Interns will learn to organise information from multiple sources and identify the developments most relevant to an investment or market perspective.

Market Intelligence & Investment Themes

You will contribute to ongoing monitoring of financial and economic developments.

This may involve identifying themes such as technological disruption, demographic changes, geopolitical developments, sustainability trends, changing consumer behaviour, or shifts in monetary policy.

Interns may be asked to investigate these themes and assess how they could affect particular companies, industries, asset classes, or investment opportunities.

The objective is to develop the ability to connect wider economic and market developments with practical investment implications.

Research Reports & Analytical Materials

Interns will assist in transforming research into structured and professional materials.

Depending on the project, you may prepare:

  • Economic briefings
  • Market updates
  • Investment research notes
  • Company and industry summaries
  • Investment comparison reports
  • Presentation decks
  • Research articles
  • Internal analytical reports
  • Educational financial content

You will develop experience presenting complex economic and financial information in a concise, logical, and accessible manner.

Analytical & Project Exposure

Interns may also contribute to selected projects involving investment strategy, financial education, market research, portfolio-related analysis, and other research-driven initiatives.

You may be given responsibility for specific research topics or workstreams, allowing you to develop greater ownership over your work.

This may include gathering information, analysing findings, preparing recommendations, meeting project deadlines, and presenting conclusions to the team.

Throughout the internship, you will develop practical capabilities in:

  • Macroeconomic research
  • Financial-market analysis
  • Investment research
  • Company and industry analysis
  • Market intelligence
  • Economic-data interpretation
  • Investment-theme identification
  • Research writing
  • Analytical reporting
  • Presentation preparation
  • Critical thinking
  • Structured problem-solving
  • Commercial and financial awareness

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for individuals who are analytical, curious, detail-oriented, and genuinely interested in economics, financial markets, and investments.

The ideal candidate enjoys researching unfamiliar topics, following economic and market developments, working with quantitative and qualitative information, and understanding the reasoning behind investment decisions.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently will be valued.

Candidates do not need extensive prior investment experience, although a basic understanding of economics, finance, accounting, or financial markets would be beneficial.

This internship is particularly relevant for individuals exploring careers in:

  • Investment management
  • Equity research
  • Economic research
  • Asset management
  • Wealth management
  • Financial services
  • Banking
  • Capital markets
  • Investment advisory
  • Corporate finance
  • Consulting

Internship Experience

The internship offers an opportunity to gain practical exposure to the research and analytical processes used to understand economic developments and financial markets.

Through involvement in economic research, investment analysis, company research, and market monitoring, interns will develop a broader understanding of how economic conditions translate into investment opportunities and risks.

The experience is intended to go beyond theoretical learning by giving interns opportunities to analyse real-world developments, form structured observations, and communicate findings in a professional environment.

Pay: $800.00 - $1,500.00 per month
