Role Description

The Cloud FinOps Analyst / Cloud Cost Analyst / FinOps Engineer helps teams understand, forecast, and optimise cloud expenditure. Responsibilities include analysing billing and usage, allocating costs, investigating spending anomalies, and evaluating savings opportunities alongside service requirements.

The Cloud FinOps Analyst coordinates spending reviews and financial accountability. The Cloud Cost Analyst focuses on reporting, forecasts, and cost allocation, while the FinOps Engineer automates cost visibility and implements technical improvements that reduce waste and improve resource efficiency.

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in cloud cost management, financial analysis, cloud infrastructure, or FinOps.
• Understanding of cloud consumption, billing structures, pricing models, and cost allocation.
• Strong Excel and SQL skills, with experience preparing dashboards and expenditure reports.
• Ability to forecast spending, explain budget variances, and investigate unexpected charges.
• Familiarity with tagging, shared cost allocation, budgets, and cloud cost management tools.
• Ability to assess rightsizing, idle resources, storage options, and usage commitments against workload needs.
• Strong communication skills for working with Finance, Engineering, Procurement, and business stakeholders.
• For engineer positions, experience using scripting, cloud APIs, and automation to build reporting pipelines and cost controls.
• Relevant cloud or FinOps certification is advantageous, alongside an ability to measure realised savings and business unit costs.
