Uma Publications Hiring! Full Time Graphic Designer (Tamil Publishing Layout) in Federal Territory, Earn up to MYR 3,500 - Ricebowl

Note: Tamil reading required; writing fluency not required

Uma Publications Sdn Bhd produces Tamil-language children’s books, textbooks, workbooks, magazines and digital learning content. We’re looking for a designer who can create attractive, accurate multi-page layouts and adapt visual styles for different publications and age groups.

The work

• Design book and magazine pages in Adobe InDesign; build reusable styles and templates for efficient production.
• Place Tamil text accurately, apply editors’ corrections and prepare proofs and print-ready files.
• Edit and prepare images in Photoshop; create vector graphics, icons and diagrams in Illustrator.
• Adapt graphics and layouts for screen-based and interactive learning content.
• Use AI tools thoughtfully where useful, while remaining fully capable of doing the work without them.

You’ll need

• Strong InDesign skills, including styles, parent pages, tables and long-document layout.
• Working Photoshop and Illustrator skills, sound typography and attention to detail.
• The ability to read Tamil well enough to place text and check corrections. Tamil writing fluency is not required; editors handle language editing.
• A portfolio showing relevant layout or design work. Publishing experience is an advantage.

Experience with animation, video, 3D or interactive production is welcome, but not required.

Pay: RM2,500–RM3,500 per month
