Job Description

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Psychology, or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrated understanding of therapeutic principles and interventions applicable to pediatric populations.

  • Ability to assist therapists in implementing treatment plans and providing direct client care under supervision.

  • Experience or strong aptitude in providing behavioral support and managing challenging behaviors in a therapeutic setting.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively interact with children, parents, and the therapy team.

  • Proficiency in Mandarin is highly desirable for effective communication with a diverse client base.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to assist with documentation, record-keeping, and maintaining therapy materials.

  • Capability to actively participate in activity planning and preparation, contributing creative and age-appropriate ideas.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new therapeutic techniques and approaches.

  • Must be able to commit to the full duration of the internship onsite at Smilestone Paediatric Therapy Center in Chemor, Malaysia.

  • Demonstrates a genuine passion for working with children and a commitment to their development and well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Assist therapists in implementing treatment plans for pediatric clients, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy interventions.

  • Prepare and maintain therapy equipment and treatment areas, ensuring a safe and organized environment for clients and staff.

  • Provide direct therapeutic support to children under the supervision of a licensed therapist, implementing prescribed exercises and activities.

  • Observe and document client progress, responses to interventions, and any changes in condition, reporting findings to the supervising therapist.

  • Engage children in therapeutic activities, adapting approaches to suit individual needs and developmental stages.

  • Assist with client and family education regarding home exercise programs and strategies to support therapeutic goals.

  • Maintain open and effective communication with therapists, other team members, and families to ensure coordinated care.

  • Support the administrative tasks related to therapy services, such as scheduling appointments and managing client records.

  • Participate in team meetings and in-service training sessions to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols, infection control procedures, and ethical guidelines established by the center.
